It is kinda an IM for gamers. It allows you to instant message one or multiple people at once, voice chat, take screenshots, take videos, tracks stats for you games, auto downloads updates for games, lets you join friends in a game etc.
You could always google it and go to their site to see more about it.

Yea, but it is more organized than MSN
Clan's use it for meetings and also for team play and practices
Can also help you upload screen shots and videos
