Forum - Space Odyssey MMORPG - a massive free online space game

i come back and play again and now people are moaning about the aliens i think its a great update just cos some are not doing very well they say its just like boarding emi take it away next round get over it its awsome and if i can get ftp acount to first in two days anyone can do it so quit moaning and play and i vote the aliens stay emi :)

I think they are a little overpowered but in general I like the update.........but then I would, as it is working well for me :-P

Keep the ailens, i want to blast them. i can not believe people want these things out of spaceo, ailens rock!

i think the aliens could be good, but people are moving way too fast with them. i dont really play on the main server so i wont interfere tho.

Don't like the aliens, bad addition. Growth is too fast, it makes all other income sources obsolete.

it's not true davey, some people got way ahead in the first 48 hours when the aliens/probes were ridiculously easy to get and got a great advantage. i quit after making 500 bill in 5 minutes w/ a 7 bill fp lead. i thought it had to be a bug, unfair, and would be reset. i never thought e would do something so unfair. it is not something anyone can do or don't you think we would? this update is not the same as it was the first day or the second. it is impossible for anyone who did not get the initial advantage to catch up or even compete with those who did. the only way the rest of us could possibly catch up would be if we could afford to buy unlimited turns and time to use them. i know what i'm talking about, ive been experimenting extensivly and talking to a lot of other people. it is also stupid because now that is all the game is. there is no point to the whole rest of the game. it all might as well be deleted and renamed alien hunt.

also davey - you say anyone can do it. fine,mail me,  i'll give you the pass to my account and lets see how far you can take it.?   :)   then you will know that there is a huge problem.

i agree i love the update, its different 2 boarding and i think it wuld b stupid 2 even change it, its a great update emi dont listen 2 complainers like losted and the others keep it the way it is :D

Downscaling rewards would be better as then you can choose again how you wish to play instead of having only 1 way.

Might I suggest that either they get downpowered, or the pinpointers get removed from the aliens AND market! as people will just use alt to achieve pinpointers and then sell them on the market..
I myself think it's a good plan (the 2nd) as you'll be happy with a few pinpointers, and if you wanna do the mission 10 times it costs alot of turns, so yu have to sacrifise a bit to do them :)

I'm with Lamma on this one but maybe for slightly differant  reasons. Two long years ago when i started playing it was about the thrill of the hunt. We only had commander contracts and that was it. Now with all this other stuff we are distracted enough to where we have forgotten what it's all about. We need more fighting and not like wars where you have to hunt your target down.

yes.. and all the attacking has been taken out because of galaxy attacks.. people using lower members or alt accounts to neb themselvs.. ive been saying it for ages.. take out galaxy attacks or put more restrictions on them

Can someone please mail / pm me a detailed describtion on how you neb with the galaxy attacks and any other methods that would help a lot in stopping self nebs, thank you.

I sorta agree. A lot of people just hit a ton of encounters etc and attack way less.  If only there was a classic  server.  :P
Also,
Everyone keeps whining  about how unfair this round is ending, and that it's ending so fast, but didn't Emi say he'd fix the Aliens update in the start of the new round? So don't you WANT this particular round to end fast? We get it, you hate the update, quit whining about it. It was just one very short round, and this game has many more to come.
That's just my two cents. :)

well it also means its  a waste of money to those who have donated and played fair. i for one am not wasting my money on making any more donations

Well that is most unfortunate, every major update has the potential to unbalance the game, that's why other games don't do any major updates, but Space Odyssey story must continue... we have a Galaxy to rebuild, whatever the cost.

The bigger updates give the potential of a change of tactics so it doesnt remain the same round after round. Although maybe making changes after DDay might be better to keep a round stable.

Yeah, maybe now with the PVE server I could just trow the updates in there now, until I got a stable version...

Yes might be better and might make the PvE server fun to play to test out updates :)

Useing the pve server for testing helps also in that you can test longer before it hits the main server and yes I know some will complain because you are testing on the pve server but it has to be tested somewhere and pve is number 3 server so it makes sense to test there.

Aye, and the test server never got enough people on it to test the full effect of an update.

Things really need to go on a test server - if players dont test it and give feedback, and it screws up, they can only blame themselves.

sounds good to me testing it out there as ill be playing this one most of the time now

yes this is waht most other browser games that i play do. its tested first before releases either on a test server or a private one where only those selected will test it

penunggu, stop comparing SpaceO with other browser games, it's a unique game, there are no games the exsact same game, get that already..
And secondly, I don't know how long you have been playing SpaceO but Sir Emi has done alot of updates instantly as most were needed and helpfull, I haven't seen anybody whine when the mission multiplier was implanted without testing, or the full battle report in logs (okay this last thing doesn't effect the game, I admit)
But if you have been playing this game for a long time, and watched the forums you would have noticed that Sir Emi HAS tested alot of things on the test server, like the galaxy, and after that the mining/space facilities and a few more other updates, so what if he didn't tested this properly first, he's human, humans make mistakes, I'm just glad that this game exsists, and don't go whining that I shouldn't talk like this 'cus I maxed with this update, as I didn't donate a single dollar so you should have been able to do so aswell...
And second it's a lame excuse to say that it only benefited me 'cus I maxed :P

Please put the first version on the test server to at least give it a quick trial run, then put the beta on the PvE, then put the stable version on Main or Wars - I will be very angry if I log in to find that 5 people have maxed out in one day because of an untested update that gave out gobs of cash ^^

At least in putting it on the test server you can make sure that there are no glaring problems with the update.

And there aren't all of a sudden 5 ppl maxed, it took 2 weeks before they maxed, just stop whining already, Emi gets the hint about the fact that he has to put it on the test server first, he'll do that from now on (I think)

4. This is my concern as I am 1 of the Space Odyssey players aswell, just like you whether you like it or not.
5. This is a free game, and I can whatever I want as long as it is in the rules of the TOS..
