http://www.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=687Here's an interesting article on how EVE is trying to fight gold miners. They've just recently instituted a new system for identifying and removing them. It even has graphs of data before and after the system was started. What was certainly surprising was how the CPU time on the servers was decreased by 30 whopping percent. Keep in mind that the banned parties just constituted around 2% of the active users.
http://wiki.eveonline.com/wiki/30_days_Concord_Pilot_License_ExtensionThis, right here, is on article on their new PLEX system. They're trying to push it as an alternative to gold miners and the like, and I think its a well thought out plan. Basically, you can buy 30 day game cards using cash and sell them on the in-game market for credits (or whatever). The money's being channeled into the game itself instead of, I don't know, Asia or something. Not to mention, each PLEX goes to people who actually like playing the game (and might not be able to afford paying real money every month).
What are your guys' thoughts on the matter?
