it's not sadly. 3DR is officially dead. We might see a DNF still, as take two still has the publishing rights. but it won't be the same.
I fear those d**n alien bastards finally got Duke.

Hmm, think about it this way. If Duke Nukem Forever is still made after this, how awesome of a story would it make? "This game went through thirteen years of development, three game engines, two developers, a lawsuit, and bankruptcy to be released. What did your game go through?" P.S. Take-Two has filed for a legal injunction to, among other things, protect the Duke Nukem Forever source code. This is simultaneously good news and bad news. The question is whether Take-Two actually wants to do something with said code. (Update:) Looking at Apogee's website, I found that their looking for the next live action duke to "[represent] Deep Silver and Apogee Software, LLC as the new 'official' Duke Nukem..." Duke Nukem Forever may be in trouble, but at least Duke Nukem still seems to live. |

Hmm, well it seems that 3DRealms itself is not closing, although they had to let their Duke Nukem Forever team go. Of course, they said that they will "continue to license and co-create games based upon the Duke Nukem franchise." Maybe they could settle for a co-author spot with Duke Nukem Forever. Of course, this lawsuit is quite a wrench in everything. It could be a year before 3DRealms is legally allowed to do anything with the Duke Nukem Forever source. |
