I can read it, but it does slow me down a bit. I have seen that paragraph a few times though. So that helps.

That's among people who already know English fairly well, though.  Among people not entirely familiar with English, it can completely destroy any semblance of meaning in the sentence (Is recnet a word?  Is ervey a word?  They are legal in the English language, as far as word construction goes).

And yes, I can read it all just fine.  But I'm much more willing to read something written well than poorly (even on AIM, to some extent), and many others are the same.  And it does slow me down, just a tad.

According to a recent study conducted at an English university it doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are situated, the only importent thing is that the first and last letter must be in the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without a problem. This is becuase we do not read every letter by itself, but rather the word as a whole.

now, if you started playing a game, which would you rather see, this, or that? (same paragraph, just errors corrected)  also, either this was anew survey done, or you skipped some parts as well.  when I read it, it said that: (basically)

people over a certain IQ can read words even if the letters are in the wrong order, all that matters is that the first and last letters are correct, and that all letters are in there somewhere.

so popele can raed tihs and not be cnofeusd wtvesoaher.  ctnartcoonis can siltl be raed elsaiy eevn wrods lkie cna't and dno't and wtah's cokonig doc?  I tinhk I mdae my ponit.

bravo to anyone who can read that.  according to the study, this should be just as easy to read, as the other paragraph.  by the way, anyone who can't read that, but could the other one, the reason is the longer the word, the harder to piece it together.  'translated' it's:

so people can read this and not be confused whatsoever. contractions can still be read easily even words like can't and don't and what's cooking doc?  I think I made my point.

I read your sentence with ease, and none of them slowed me down. And ars, I've SEEN the results page of this sudy (I participated in it a while back, quite fun really). Guess what the IQ requirement is? 101, 1 point above the high part of the average mark. So, basically, about 75% of people should be able to read thode, provided they are semi-fluent in english....and not a japanese immigrant of any age (it's been scientifically proven that all japanese people are slightly below average in verbal, while they are slightly above average in mathematics and science. Go fgiure.)
