Teufel Hunden

   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to the history of the Teufel Hunden, it has existed since the old calendar’s date of November 10 1776 AD.  They were assembled from the best sharpshooters in the world.  But, it was only a Company of them.  Throughout their history they have distinguished themselves in battle from their inception. One of their first distinctions was at the Battle of Baldensburg, when the whole of their unit gave their lives protecting their President and allowing him to escape their capitol. The 46 of them gained the respect of their enemies and when they burned the capitol they left the house of their Commandant intact, out of respect for their battle prowess and their fighting spirit.  A few decades later, they again distinguished themselves at the battle of Chapultepec were 97% of their NCOs (Non Commissioned Officers) and Officers gave their lives, but the non-rates took up the cause without leadership and won the day, thus the reason the NCOs and Officers now wear what is called “blood stripes” on their dress uniforms.  Then, in their 2nd century, during one of the many World Wars of the old nation states, they earned their name, as it is now, during the battle for a place called Bella Woods.  According to legend, they battled through all kinds of chemicals there and a force 10 times their number to carry the day.  Those of the enemy that survived said the soldiers fought like Teufel Hunden (Devil Dogs, or Hell Hounds of legend).  The Teufel Hunden saw this as a compliment and adopted it as their unofficial name.  So, through countless other battles and centuries and wars we have become known as Teufel Hunden.  During one of the large battles many years ago, the Commandant of the Teufel Hunden, named Gunfigther Frank, managed to get himself and many of his people into the Halls of Glory through great leadership and trade, making many allies through the sale of ship designs, thus the legend and status of the Teufel Hunden in the Galaxy now.  Since then, all Commandants of the Teufel Hunden have been called Gunfighter Frank.

Gunfighter Frank
Commandant Teufel Hunden

The Battles of Old

According to the old histories and legends, the battles of old were truly immense.  The fleets of the G-unit (Gu), Aeternal Light (AL), and the Teufel Hunden (TH) are said to have numbered in the trillions. These fleets are even said to have hundreds of massive gigaton ships with hundreds of trillions onboard each.  The histories speak of fleets that would go to battle each other, that would fire and fire and the defense of these ships was so great, that not even a shot would hit.  For example the Histories state that the great commanders Gunfighter Frank of TH and the legendary commander CRX of Gu would meet on the battlefield and completely expend all their ordnance without scoring even 1 hit.  The history states that they would create a nebula with all the ordnance they expended, and neither one would loose a ship.  Accordingly, the great commanders built boarding ships in horrific numbers.  From what I have been able to piece together about these battles, with the battles raging, TH marines were launched with the missiles of the TH to engage the ships directly.  The history states that CRX’s ship put up a terrific fight but were outnumbered, thus the final defeat of the legendary CRX.   The following is from the battle reports of one of the Bella Woods-class ship commanders, the Bella Woods-class ships are said to be well over 200 gigatons.  Where they got those kinds of resources, I have no idea.

Captain Joe Smucatelly to Gunfighter Frank.
14:00 hours earth time: the battle has been raging for hours.  We are closing on the enemy CRX fleets.  CRX has launched well over 3 trillion fighters.  Our 75 million corvette-class ships are taking care of them.  We have flushed our first salvo of 100 million missile tubes, loaded with a mix of warheads, decoys and jammer missiles.  They have had no real effect on CRX’s capital ships.  We are taking massive incoming fire but our PDL’s and PDM’s are knocking down all incoming fire.  We have the boarding ships and hull-penetrator pods loaded with our full complement of 40 trillion marines.  In this next salvo, we will launch the Hull penetrators with the salvo; this should confuse their gunners enough to allow the marines to board CRX’s capital ships and then us transporters to capture the fighters.

14:45 hours.  Cerberus leader to Bella Woods.
We have lost 10% of our pods on the way in to PDL’s and PDM’s.  The first of the hull-penetrators are starting their run on lead ship.  Their plasma cutters are having trouble with the armor.  We are going to fall back and use nuclear charges to blast through the armor.  Since we are inside the shields, this should burn a hole in their hull that we can use to board.

15:00 hours.  Cerberus leader to Bella Woods.
We have lost 2% of the lead elements to the nuclear blast.
Captain Joe Smucatelly to Cerberus leader.  Don’t fail to capture that ship and its supporting fighters.  We have paid a terrible price so far.

15:25 hours.  Cerberus leader to Bella Woods.
(sounds of fighting and men dying in the background) We have secured the engineering bay, and are working our way to the security section and the bridge. Fighting is much lighter than we thought.  I think most of their Army units are flying those fighters.
Captain Joe Smucatelly: Our Corvettes are keeping their fighters busy, and now that you have taken down their power, they cant fire any more, so the Corvettes are able to block their landing bays and stop reinforcements from landing.  Also, the Corvettes are keeping them out of transporter range.  Try not to destroy those ships or let them self-destruct, but don’t take too many risks. Keep your men alive.

16:00 hours, Cerberus leader to Bella Woods.
(a different voice)  They have hit our CP and killed Major Daily.  This is Captain Sulivian.  We are outside the bridge, cutting our way through.  They have disabled the transporters, so we have been on foot and using their turbo lifts, since we have got the main ones back online.   We are bringing up a heavy phaser battery to cut through the side of the bridge and one to keep them thinking we are going to blast through their blast doors.  This ship is much like our Mega-big-class ships.  I believe we must have a spy in the research division.
Captain Joe Smucatelly: Roger that, I will have internal security get on that.  It could just be one of the designs we have sold.  Lets hurry up and get this done, Cerberus lead.  Our ships are about out of ordnance.

16:15 Cerberus leader: We have the bridge.  We are recalling the CRX fighters into some of the undamaged landing bays, and will have the transporters online shortly.  Recall the Corvettes, and have them transport their marines to reinforce us.  Make it look like we have given up.
Captain Joe Smucatelly: Roger that, we are out of large ordnance anyway.  We will make a close pass to mask the actions of the Corvettes and get them loaded.  You have 30 minutes before our hyper drives are charged and we leave.  Make the base of operations as soon as you can.  It will be weeks before we can mount a rescue mission with our other fleets making raids on CRX’s secret bases.

16:45 Captain Joe Smucatelly:  Cerberus lead, we have recalled all our fighters and hyper drive has charged.  You are on your own.  Do you need anything before we leave?
Cerberus lead: we have captured 25% of the fighters, and lost a total of 35% of our people; reports are still coming in.  We should have this ship fully operational within the hour, then we should be able to get the rest of the fighters to surrender.  Cerberus lead out.

20:32 hours Captain Joe Smucatelly to Gunfighter Frank:  This is Bella Woods fleet 25 to Gunfighter Frank.  We have lost 100 trillion Marines, and captured 400 billion fighters and 6 Mega-big-class ships.  14 Mega-big ships self-destructed, and well over 2 billion of the fighters self-destructed.  Reporting that all CRX fleets have been captured or destroyed.
Gunfighter Frank To Captain Joe Smucatelly: This is good news.  Our Allies, DDD, have also been on the attack, and our other fleets have utterly destroyed his mother ship and secret bases.  We have captured well over 1000 trillion credits and 3000 trillion workers for our secret bases.  We should be fully back to power in a matter of days now, instead of weeks.  Good work, Admiral.

From the papers of the original Gunfighter Frank

On the date of Dec. 2, 1983, we were up at 04:00 prepping our birds.  The hanger bays are abuzz with activity.  Ordnance techs are arming up the Cobras with ground assault ordnance.  I am doing my pre-flight inspections, and making my choice for each door gun on my ship.  I have chosen a GUA 2b mini-gun for my ramp gun, a single M2 .50 cal machine gun, and a twin mount M2 .50 cal for my position.  I have pulled all but the engine armor off to increase our range since we are supposed to be loitering over the LZ after we drop our payload and packs off, in their support.  The ordnance techs are giving me a hard time because I have requested extra ammo.
06:00 I am putting on my flight gear and battle armor.  I am strapping on my weapons: my saber and 14 blades.  Never know; if we get shot down, I may need it for up close and personal encounters.  The other guys are always going nuts about carrying so much gear, especially since I carry about 1500 rounds for my M16.
07:00 Going up the elevator with my bird to get put on spot for take off.  I have acquired 2 stingers and mounted them on either stub wing with the sights attached with a periscope, and the trigger wired.
07:30 Launch.  We are flying to a friendly country to pick up the assault force.  Rumor has it, my best friend is there.  We are supposed to be the diversion for a multi-pronged attack.  The opposition where we are going is supposed to be fierce.
08:00 LCpl Z and his fire team are onboard my bird, along with a Ranger unit.
08:45 We are approaching the LZ, a crossroads between two ridge lines. There is fire starting to come from the east ridge.
08:46 The fire is now so intense, it looks like we could get out and walk on it to the ground.
08:47 The lead cobra just took a hit in the tail section and has broken in half.  We have opened fire now.  There is a bofurs gun low on the east ridge.  Calling in Wolf pack lead to bring in some nape and snake.
08:48 152317 just turned into a fireball. I can hear the men screaming on the way down while they are burning to death over the gunfire and the roar of the engines.  We are on approach.  Dupree is lowering the ramp doors while we are flaring for landing.  That bofurs gun is tracking us.
08:49 I am targeting that bofurs gun.  Our guys are off loading and we have dropped the willy jeep and its 75mm pack howitzer we were carrying.  One of the rangers has frozen on the ramp door, delaying our time on the ground.  HOLY HELL, that bofurs gun has us zeroed incoming.  I see Paul deploying around us to protect us while we are on the ground.  Nuts, what happened to him?  He just vaporized.  D**n, that is a shell exploding inside our cabin. It looks like a big egg cracking open with white light.  D**n I'm dead.  No, just hit bad.  My arms are black and slimy, but my fingers are still working, and my legs seem to be working.  My ribs are hurting something fierce, and so does my knee.  We are hit again and again.  That is the number 1 engine falling off.  Dupree is down.  Jones is down.  The Corpsman is hit, but wandering around the cabin.  We are in flight.  I can’t hear anything but a ringing.  Everything turns red.  It is like I can see the rounds in flight, but my body is not responding fast enough.  I am going to kill that gun.  What am I doing on the other side of this aircraft?  My flight helmet is smashed; get that d**n busted visor out of my sight, tear the visor off my flight helmet.  Get back to my guns, and start firing at that gun.  I can feel the vibration of my guns and my ship something ugly.  The guns are not firing fast enough. They should be firing at 500 rounds per minute each. Stay calm, and walk the rounds into that gun.  D**n the whole ridge just turned into a fireball, and I got that gun. No that was a Wolf pack bird with the nape and snake.  There is an APC coming into the battle line.
08:50 I am lining up on this APC and hammering it something ugly. What is the Corpsman doing to me?  He just poked me with a couple of serrets of morphine and I can now hear again.  There is a hole in the side of our cabin the size of a VW bug, and we are missing the number one engine, but we are still flying.  I got that APC.  It is on fire and men are piling out of it.  They are on fire.  Guess I will see about helping them out, and see how many pieces I can blow them into.  The gun cameras are still working, wow.
08:51 we are flying out of range of that APC.  Why can’t I feel my guns anymore?  The barrels are white and drooping.  I am out of ammo.  I can hear Captain Woodsrif hollering in the mic.  What is he saying?  HOLY nuts.  He has a large piece of the airframe in his left leg.  Now I can hear him saying he needs help flying this thing.  I climb into the thingypit, or what is left of it.  Captin Michelson is dead.  Looks like a piece of hamburger.  I grab him and throw him into the cabin, but he comes apart in my hands.  GOD, the smell.  I can still smell it to this day. I get the rest of him out of his seat and throw him in the cabin and take the co-pilots position, but there is not much left of the thingypit, just the seat and the sticks mostly.  All of the radios and equipment are gone, along with most of the airframe.
09:30 We are approaching the LHA.  They have cleared a spot for us.  We have 4 birds down at the LZ, and it looks like they just launched med-evac ships.  The roar of our own rotors and engine is deafening.
09:35 We hit the deck hard.  The main mount on our left side collapses, and our blades are striking the deck.  HARD BRAKE.  The brake causes the blades to stop almost instantly and twist the aircraft.  Our other mounts collapse now as well.  Nuts, that nose gear just busted through the thingypit floor.  Luckily, it didn’t get any of us.
09:40 I am post flighting my aircraft while all the deck crews are pulling off the dead and the Corpsman is helping Captain Woodsrif.  I think Rick is his name. Some deck crew tells me I am needed in control.  I go to put my memo pad back into my sleeve pocket and remember that I don’t have one anymore, since it was crushed when I got my memo pad.
09:41 I am walking across the flight deck when some sailor stops me and asks me "Flyboy, you ok?"  I say “Sure, why?”  He told me to look at my leg.  I look down and my knee is splayed to the right side of my leg, and there is blood dripping out my boot.  My flight suit, what is left of it, is soaked with blood, and there is what looks like intestines dangling off my heeds bottle.  I feel my eyes rolling into the back of my head.

Hmm a Gunfighter Frank account about an alien encounter

189.70000 While on long-range patrol, I got an urgent call from commander Einstien about some kind of Dooms Day weapon forming in our home system of Kuma in the Alpha Borealis quadrant 915,381.  He was talking of some kind of ship, or ships, coming out of nowhere, just appearing.  Not from hyperspace, just appearing with this fleet of fighters and capital ships.  This ship was supposed to be the size of one of the old gas giants of old.  Since Einstien is the smallest of our mother ship commanders, I am dispatching Warrior, Argus and Drackin, our newest commander from the Elite Dragons lair, to support him.  I am turning the TH Command mother ship to investigate this myself.  Intel is sending me reports through my neural link about these kinds of sightings all across the galaxy.  Lightseeker and Duo have responded to a call from Alex and Space Balls alliance, and Lammalord has been dispatched buy WoW from DDD to assist ars and G-unit.  WoW said he is engaging a similar encounter with the rest of his alliance.  This sounds like some big new threat. We will secure our home system first, in order to better assist the others.
I am starting to get Einstien’s sensor readings, and the readings from our sensor net in our system.  They look to be some kind of ragtag fleet of ships in great numbers, ranging from single seat fighters to something that makes Lightseekers Divine Manifestation look like a fighter craft.  Einstien is taking massive damage from this fleet, but Argus and Drackin will be there soon.  I just hope they don’t find our secret bases.  The best they could stand is a few score of mega-big-class ships.  Argus has joined the battle and Drackin is still a few minutes out.  Argus is taking some severe damage and Warrior has been delayed with a battle with some kind of alien craft that seem to be causing a Dooms Day Device effect.  Reports from him say it is about the size of a planet according to the database.
Finally, we are here!  Argus is attacking from what appears to be the rear of this thing, targeting a massive power node.  Einstien’s ship is almost demolished and Drackin is providing cover for him.  That power node appears to be a weak spot in this thing’s shields and armor.  “Bella Woods fleets 1-8, attack the capital ships that thing has brought with her.  Corvettes, attack the fighters.  Dauntless calls destroyers and Battlestars to attack the escort ships.  Battlestars, attempt to capture some of their ships and crews alive.  I what to know what and who we are facing.  Warrior, when you can break free, home in on me and argus, signal and jump between us with everything you got.  Bring the Wedges online and all the gravity shielding online.  Al Kutt fleets 1-4, form a wall of battle in front of us, and accelerate at 500 gravities.  We are going to get into a better firing position on her flank.”  She has been hammering Einstien with some kind of stellar converter, or…no, that is a point singularity weapon.  No wonder they were able to jump without a hyperspace signal.  This ship has some kind of rippers or movable arms in an octopi form.  We are picking up some kind massive encrypted signal being sent to everywhere, but concentrated on the point where they came out.  “Start firing all batteries.  Prepare the main stellar converters.”  Thor has arrived.  “Thor, assist Einstien and drackin.  Gunfighter to Argus, get your stellar converters ready.  Warrior is 2 minutes out with what is left of his fleet. Be ready to fire just as soon as Warrior comes out of hyperspace dangerously close between us firing.” The Al Kutts are doing some damage to its defense guns and secondary weapons, but no real damage.  Good thing for us, these things only have forward-facing main guns. and our ships are fast enough, and have enough defense, to knock down what that thing can throw at us.  Here comes Warrior.  “Warrior, Argus, Drackin, when we kill this thing, let’s collect all we can of our ships while Warrior’s hyper drives recharge.  I just received a call from ars and Lammalord; they got an even bigger ship like this to deal with.  I am getting targeting data from them.  I am transmitting it to your location.  We know the placement of the power nodes, and using their targeting data, we will jump ready to fire.  Let G-units fleets know to fire at the same instant we come out of hyperspace.  When that thing is going critical, pull away from her at 700 gravities in the red.  Thor, you stay here with Einstien, and assist him in repairs and cover our home system.  All ships we cant take, or that are damaged, are under your command.  I am leaving 5 fleet of Bella Woods under your command and as soon as those Battlestars and Dauntless get back with their captured ships and prisoners, start your analysis of them, and let me know what you find out.  My intel is reporting all kinds of these incursions into our galaxy.  Is this just a scouting party or are these the ones that cause the Dooms Day Devices to be built in the first place?   Ok, people, we just got a lot of stuff to salvage in our system, now get to it.  WoW is requesting help now, as well.  We go to assist ars and G-unit, since their ship is larger and has many more fighters.  WoW is big enough to take care of himself for a bit longer, I hope. Super Dreadnaughts form a wall of battle in front of the mother ships and have all batteries ready to fire. Dreadnaughts, form a screen around the mother ships. I know we are down a good portion of our fleets, but we have to move and fast.”
D**n, ars wasn’t kidding, or exaggerating, this is one huge ship.  Fire.  We have secondaries.  G-unit can handle the fighters.  We are off to assist WoW as soon as our hyper-drives are charged.
En route to WoWs position we lost contact with him and all targeting data.  lammalord was with us.  We approached a debris field nearly the size of that ship G-unit was dealing with + the size of WoWs mother ship.  We have either lost contact with other forces, or they have achieved victory with the data we sent about the power nodes.  It is back to home base now to see what and who we are facing.
