I believe there is an error in attack protocal when fleets have matching contents.
To my understanding, the last fleet takes all overage in enemy attack when the number of fleets do not match up.

I have now lost 2 ships to this issue today.  rip2

Assault result

NightScourge(#76230)'s 1 / 1 (100%) CrimsonScourge E6 are destroyed during battle.
Unidentified Fleet(#0)'s 24112 The Hellish Disgrace MK 5 are destroyed during battle.
Unidentified Fleet(#0)'s 33897 Semakaramon MK 12 are destroyed during battle.
Unidentified Fleet(#0)'s 1680 Gecko Elemental MK 7 are destroyed during battle.
You attacked Unidentified Fleet(#0)'s fleet and mothership from deep space.
You destroyed Unidentified Fleet(#0)'s 59689 ships and lost 1/2 ships.
You lost 15.880.047/31.760.094 fleet power (50%), while the enemy lost 17.839.135/35.659.135 fleet power (50%)

Primary Objective: Destroy 32% of the enemy while losing less percent of the armada then the enemy.

Your attack failed and achieved nothing.
You lost more power than Unidentified Fleet(#0) during battle.

Mathematically, the enemy damage would have come up 8,082,995 short of destroying the tail fleet. Although, matching the overage to the first fleet would've produced a confirmed destruction of the fleet.

I would appreciate any assistance in this matter.

Ok let's see...

Your first fleet took this damage:

The fleet The Hellish Disgrace MK 5 did 189.974.534 damage to fleet CrimsonScourge E6.

The fleet Semakaramon MK 12 did 181.891.539 damage to fleet CrimsonScourge E6.

The fleet Demon Scions From D'ulzsa MK 8 did 79.541.869 damage to fleet CrimsonScourge E6.

Ok that's: 189.974.534 + 181.891.539 + 79.541.869 = 426.137.026

This equals the hitpoits of the ship.

Now for the battle analysis:

You had 2 fleets, they had 4. Your first 2 fleets match the enemy first 2 fleets, then enemy #3 goes for your first fleet but failed the attack. Now enemy #4 goes for your first fleet again and the ship is destroyed...

Seems ok to me. Did I miss anything? The last enemy fleets always goes for your top fleet, unless it is destroyed in witch case they go for the second top and so on...

I think you got some confusion in there because you renamed your fleets with the same name...

So from what you're telling me, the lead fleet takes all overage in enemy attack until destroyed (if the enemy fleet attack warrants the destruction). Because to memory (which seems to be wavering at the moment) it appeared to be the opposite, in which the tail fleet took the enemy overage.

In this senario, a defense ship (no attack) with fleet power high enough to post over a mission ship will protect any mission ships beneath it until it's ultimate demise.

Confirmed: Lead fleet takes all overage attack until all enemy fleets have exhausted attack or until the destruction of first fleet, then moves to subsequent fleets.

Thank you, SirEmi for this clarification.

yes that's correct you can use a buffer fleet for example to take the enemy fire damage while your lower fleets deal the real damage...
