I have been browsing the forums as of late, reading up on fleet design and building. I've tried my hand at designing ships but i believe i'm still doing a few things wrong. I'm mainly worried about the energy/size/cost. Anyone can give my some advice?

from the looks of it you have a ship with 4800 space  6 bill confused that means you really need to tune your systems. each system should weigh 8 and cost no more than 10 credits. that will lower the cost a LOT. to get the same stats you need to build much bigger ships. seem y thread (Can anyone nice check this design...)and you'll see that I have a much biger ship that costs 1.7 bill per ship and has siilar stats. you aretrying to cram too much into a ship that is MUCH to small.


obviously thatcould all be my sheer newbieness talking.

EDIT:post the setup of each individual system so we can see where they need tuning.
 someone tell me I am right, I really want to be right for once. Opps

Yes, I have done that. All my non-weapons are weight 8 and cost less than 10 credits

I've edited my 1st post displaying the systems

and it still costs6bill per ship ?? deffo only 4800 ship space?

is it meant to be a powership or a supership. if we compare stats-

EDIT: even if your powercore takes up all the ship space it costs 6 bil, so that is not below 10?

so for 5bill cheaper I have- 66493007 less attack

BUT 64% more accuracy and over triple the hitpoints.


tbh I cant see where the cost of your ship is coming from, if all systems are 10 or below how does it cost 6 bill per ship??

My guess is the ship space. My ship is many times smaller than your own.

Thro 10 or 20 or even 100 extra space (and weight of powercore) may only result in 200k credit price drop, with a massive ship space, the most expensive part of the ship, the powercore is far less.

Ya you need to do what Arretu said.
It mite be little harder but it is worth it!
My ship had 6,000 space/hull and with all my upgrades it comes to 990,020 Credits

Make your powercore 6405562 space and the energy 2562219521. It will cost 3cr and your "hull cost" will only be a little more than 1bilcr. Obviously, increse the size of the hull to fit 1. I have to core formula if you want it. it's also somewhere on the forum

I can see many of you dont read even half the post on here.  you will find most of the formula in this section.  I could care less how much space you have left.  we need the size of your ship.  if you would have read more of the post here you would have found that 1 ton, weight, space  of a ships hull cost 165 credits.   you would have also found the formula for powercores over 20 tons to be weight*400-5279= energy  at cost 3.

please excuese my rudness but I have been haveing a bad week. but RTFM  and the form use the key word search and you will end up finding much of what you are asking about.  or you can check on some of the other post and see that many of us have sites up for you to look at and see how to do this stuff if you just click on our names and websites.  come commanders have them attached to thier name and avatar, or in thier sigs

yeah, if Gunfighter Frank would show me how to build i could probably learn a lot, but it seems like you are trying to build a type of tinyman design  by having majority of the cost in your powercore & with such a low segment count.

ouch I must ahve misread that I thought it said 4800 space left.  but still silver if that is the ship there seems to be something missing to make the cost ramp up to 6 billion.  or there is something wrong with teh cost calc.
