You can just hit them and they will have a counter on you but they'll have to pay truce money to attack you.

so, in theory, 1 alliance could use bounties to hit just 1 other alliance it is truced with, without breaking the truce, but in effect, have declared war. while the "victim" alliance has to pay to counter? i suppose thats 1 way to take care of a "rogue alliance". sly

Gunfighter, you have a maximum reward and minimum reward in the box at the top of the bounty list, if their bounty isn't withen this range, you need to either raise or lower your bounty to hit them. FTP, you cannot get off the list, only lower or raise your bounty. And yes, positive rep does give you bounty apparently.

1: why would hurting the bad guys badly make you a worse person?  it is like superman finally beating up every scheme Luther puts out and exposes him to the whole world...  and the police arrest SUPERMAN. (or insert any hero into superman place and villian into luther's place if unfamiliar with them)

2: I thought this was going to be a way to pay people to hurt others, not a constant sword hanging over everyone to hit people even after they go into neb.

3: (going off of what I think is going on) if you have to be withing a certain range of other people's rep, why don't make it the negative of the person's rep.  this will mean:

"good guy" with 2000 rep can't do bounty on "good guy" with 2100 rep
"bad guy" with -2000 rep can't do bounty on "bad guy with -2100 rep
"good guy" with 2000 rep CAN do bounty on "bad guy" with -2100 rep

either this, or make it absolute value of the number, so that in this case everyone in example could attack everyone else in that list (if 2000 rep, you attack range maybe 1500~2500, -1500~-2500)

it works on bounty amount, if so&so has a 1000 bounty & ur min is 50 & ur max is 2000, u can hit him. rep has no play in being able to attack. 17

Sir Emi, why did I lose around 200 rep when gunfigter attacked me through a bounty and won? Here are my logs from when I logged in way early this morning, till when I logged in just a bit ago. When I logged out, my bounty was close to 300, now it is at 60.

These are from most recent to oldest.

this is actually a bit before I logged on this morning too, but what did I do there that caused my rep to drop so severely, other then Gunfighter's attack?

And guys, counters are SUPPOSE to go through truces, so if they are telling you that you need to pay to counter, we'd better let Sir Emi know, because that is wrong.

I think I'm starting to understand the bounty system.
Everytime you loose a ship (without insurance) you will get negative reputation.
So if you loose a ship in a normal battle or mission then your reputation will decrease. And I can tell you it goes fast. I lost 1  90.000.000.000 credit ship on a mission and I lost over 2000 reputation.
Also for every mission you do, you get +7 reputation and the bounty on your head will lower by 7000000 credits.

What I don't understand is, why do I get negative reputation from loosing a ship. Am I a bad guy because I loose some ships.  Opps  It's not like that is crime. I can understand attacking other people gets you negative reputation but loosing ships, that's just crazy.  3 There is nothing wrong with that.   2

Also, somebody needs to add this information to the guide, so everyone will know how the bounty system works.  5

i think its a little to much.. first of all loseing 1500-2500 rep for loseing 1 ship

and the loss for loseing a mission

-2164
-2157
-2330

that was my last 3 missions if you look at that i won one and got +7 rep (fairlly normal)
but then i lost one and lost -173 rep.. at that rate it would take me about 25 missions to make up the rep that i lost for 1 mission... its a little to much and supposeing that emi also rised the missions to cost 15 turns instead of 5 tunrs it makes it 3x worst... in that case you get 96 missions a day (ruins the freedom in this game) and if i were to do 96 missions and lose 4 missions i would come out with a -rep.. noone can possible beat 96 missions in a row without loseing unless they have 10 fleets of really big ships (but then that would = way more losses)

for one i think that emi should keep the missions at 5 turns per mission and for two i think emi should lower the amount of loss for loseing a mission or a ship in a mission its just to much

I twicked the rep a little, it should be working fine now, you can't lose more than 75 rep per mission if you fain, and gain max 15
Also gain in encounters should be better, and on bounty.
