Return of the old tech

   During the 3 age of the Galaxy it was found that some times the old tech had its benefits when coupled with the new tech.
   At this time in the Galaxy the prevailing tech was Huge , for their time, ships. These ships were mostly battleships and Dreadnoughts. The thing was that the old carrier tech was lost. Commanders relied on either a few of the large ships or massed fighter tech. However, it was during this era that the TH (Teufel Hunden) along with AL (Aeternal Light), GU (Gunit), and a few other of the major houses or Alliances rediscovered the carrier. However, the carrier as they were on old earth was not what was needed in this time of galactic travel and warfare.
   It was thought that the large ships with new defensive systems and EW(electronic warfare) would be enough to defeat the incoming fire and destroy fighter class ships.
   It was during this time that TH started to integrate fighters with their Capital ships. This seemed to work but the Fighters slowed the deployment of the Capital ships to hot spots it also created massive logistical problems since fighters just don't have the range of the Capital ship. In order to get past this logistical nightmare TH Engineers and Techs brought back the concept of the carrier. These new carriers were mostly refit Battleships and Dreadnoughts They just added the latest in EW warfare and and replaced some of the older larger weapons with fighter bays. With the latest in automation they were able to reduce the number of crew needed for these ships and in turn were able to reduce the life support systems needed thereby making room for even more Fighters. But calling them fighters is really a misnomer. Since they are space craft they are in their own right a living environment only limited by the food supply, and they are capable of carrying many personal and supporting them. However, TH had a minor problem of not having enough personal to begin with came up with the intermediate class ship, called a LAC (Light Attack Craft). This ship is more massive than the fighter but lacked the ability of hyper-drive. This craft the LAC was packed full of weapons and EW systems as well as Marines, thus giving it the firepower of a Destroyer and the manpower in less than 1 quarter the size. They found that if they made different versions of these LACs for special purpose they could make them even more effective.
   Following is an account of one of these battles. It should also be noted that much of this is from the enemy communications that were intercepted.

   The commanders from FT (Flying Tigers) Wanderer. Lazer.laz Apollo. Commanders from TH Gunfighter Frank, Nook, Wizmat.

   Gunfighter Frank, to TH strike group. The FT have been making probing attacks again, therefore we have declared war on them again. This time we are not going to let up when they sue for peace yet again with promises of non aggression. With our new ship designs and refit ships we should make this short. The FT scouts have been busy lately and have only been able to see the hulls of our new ships not their firepower. They believe they are just fighters. Our spies have provided us with the following.
   Apollo to Wanderer, have scouted TH fleets and our people tell us that aside from their normal heavy battleships they have invested into a large number of fighters. They are not that large and should not be a problem for us to attack in consort with our allies GU. GU and TH have been at war with each other for a very long time now. With TH thinking we are truced with them we can take advantage of this opportunity to attack both the TH and the GU.
   This is the reason we will now finish this FT problem once and for all. Nook, Wizmat, the 2 of you will attack at the same time I attack. The rest of the TH will attack as opportunity presents itself. The new ships the Wiz and the Rapier are now ready for deployment. The FT are flying massive numbers of Nano class ships. We will lead our attack with Capital ship and then launch the new LAC class ships after the initial strikes, which will be flyby assaults.

   The Ship time is 15:00 hours as we are coming out of hyper space in the Epsilon bands at ~ 500 gravities and as soon as Wizmat and Nook launch their EW drones, Gunfighter Frank starts to launch C fractal missile at Wanderer's mother ship. Before they can even see us we have already set in motion a devastating attack upon Wanderer's fleets and put up enough EW so they have no idea what they are facing. After Gunfighter Frank flushed his missile tubes he began to launch his EW drones and Wizmat and Nook flushed their C fractal missile against Lazer.laz and Apollo. By the time the FT realize what is happening we have started our braking maneuvers and started launching our LACs. With all our EW and missiles in the air the FT sensors have to be overloading. Our spy stats sent us this information.
   Wanderer to all FT commanders, the TH have launched well over 300 million missile and have launched only 225million fighters to support their combine 300 capital ships. Our combine fleets of over 60 billion fighters will be able to overwhelm their fire control and destroy them.
   Gunfighter Frank upon hearing this told his commanders to capture as many of the fighters as possible to refit and use against the FT and the GU. To confuse the FT commanders even more Gunfighter Frank told his fellow TH commanders to deploy the LACs as if they were escort class ships. The TH commanders had so many ships that even with interlocking fleets and fire control the TH ships took up ~ a 3 light minute sphere. With the FT fleets only take up ~ a 1 light minute sphere. Knowing that the Standard fighter craft has to close to at least 1 million kilometers to engage and the standard capital ship can begin standard powered missile engagement at ~ 6.5 million kilometers both sides knew many of the fighters would be destroyed by the TH Capital ships on approach but Gunfighter Frank knew that with the new Ghost rider missiles he could begin to engage at 8.5 million clicks(kilometers) and that all of the TH LACs were equipped with the new Ghost rider missiles and also had the new close in energy lances as well as an EW system and point defense of a Destroyer even though they only had a limited number of the Ghost riders they could do considerable damage, but the initial launch at 8.5 clicks would mostly be ignored by the incoming cluster of fighters thus causing even more attrition in the FT fighter ranks. This was confirmed by the following transmissions intercepted by TH spy stats.
   Apollo to Wanderer Th has launched another 525 million missiles at a range of 8.5 million clicks. It appears that even those fighters that are trying to look like destroyers have even launched their missiles. Wanderer to all FT commanders this is just a ploy to try and get us to break our formations, continue on in.
    At ~ 15:40 Wanderer's missile defenses on his mother ship and the few fighters he had protecting his mother ship began to engage the C fractal missiles. And at ~ 15:50 the other FT commanders mother ships began the same thing. The mother ships only managed to destroy ~ 50% of the C fractal missiles and of the 50% they didn't destroy and amazing 50% of them struck home and destroyed a good 10% of the FT mother ships segments and most of their fighter support degrading their defenses by more than 25%. ~ 16:15 hours the first Ghost riders tore through the FT fighters decimating over 25% of them with another follow on flight of missiles already in flight. This was a devastating and utterly terrifying sight for the FT commanders as can be seen from the following intercepted transmissions.
   Wanderer to Apollo, it appears that those are some new type of missiles and that those fighters are in fact not fighters but Destroyers. Those missiles were still under powered flight. This is going to be the end of us. Attempt to surrender.
    Wanderer to Gunfighter Frank !!!!! WE SURRENDER WE SURRENDER!!!!! Please cease your fire now.
   Gunfighter Frank, Nook, and Wizmat answered this transmission with the following. 4 more missile strikes against the FT mother ships and closing to energy weapons range with the FT fighters. The new LACs preformed without a single TH loss. They captured over 20 billion of the FT fighters and their crews, and then continued to hammer the FT mother ships to virtual non existence leaving only the live support for the civilians aboard the FT mother ships. Along with the above mentioned alliances the FT was utterly destroyed. With the loss of their main commanders the FT scattered to other alliances or to oblivion.
   This thinking outside the box changed the course of the galaxies history. With the Terror of this and the following attacks other designer have since created even more devastating weapons and some of them have been outlawed by the galactic council. Old tech changed the face of the galaxy when applied with new tech.
   The lesson here is that Tech has to be watched carefully and peace must be maintained.
