2  Feedback Terminal / "Bugs" and Problems / Re: Workers not producing every 10 mins on: April 11, 2009, 08:40:07 PM
Well, I'd hardly call being 0.2% of the way to maxing being there "any minute."
and can't imagine why he'd be coy about putting on the brakes if that was his
intent. But, on the other hand, it's hard to figure out what other reason there
might be for the snafu if it was unintentional.
3  Feedback Terminal / "Bugs" and Problems / Re: Workers not producing every 10 mins on: April 11, 2009, 07:04:55 PM
What doesn't make sense is how it could possibly go astray.
You already have the code that calculates the update payouts
working perfectly for years. All you need to do is wrap it in a
runs twice while loop and change the cron job to run every twenty
min instead of every ten. It's a five minute patch if you spend
four of the minutes on a smoke break. Something fishy goin' on.
4  Feedback Terminal / "Bugs" and Problems / Re: Workers not producing every 10 mins on: April 11, 2009, 01:47:48 PM
yeah, it definitely is not paying the full amount.
Looks to me like it pays one production every 20 min, but both stash int.
And it's somewhat random.  Usually every 20 min, but sometimes goes
for an hour without an update. I assume this happens when someone is
working with the code. But, while it's annoying, it's really not a problem
since it affects everyone the same.
5  General Talk / Report Abuse / Re: alt on: April 10, 2009, 02:20:10 AM
Note this happened the day before I did it to him.
What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
And Emi has confirmed Baseballa is one of Jessie's many alts.

A quad a day? lol You want to borrow a hundred quad before you go so you have a fighting chance?
7  General Talk / General Archive / Re: Dday - do it on: September 05, 2008, 08:47:39 PM
Well, there are Jessie's comments into post #1 of the Fix It thread.

And I would be curious to hear you own explanation of this remark which you made:

qe2eqe (#96582) Alts and bots:
1000 alts, with millions of combined turns per day, running around scanning every quadrant, every planet, over and over again till all the data is known...
Scanning the rankings, making charts of who gets online when...

How much more shreddin' you need Sugar?
8  General Talk / General Archive / Re: Dday - do it on: September 05, 2008, 08:13:59 PM
Well, unless Emi was willing to offer the same prizes to find out who the best cheaters are, I suspect the cheaters will stay right where they are, 'cuz that's their motivation.

Not much if any cheatin' on wars, because there are no prizes there.

I think half the reason Emi ignores the cheating on SO main is because they drive
the bulk of the site's traffic (using bots to run a gazilloin alts), helping create the
illusion this is a popular game and increasing his ad revenues.

Hacks, cheats, exploits, alt abuse, bots, buddy boosting.
Every round for at least the past six rounds.
And nothing ever changes.  Unless you are in top ten or think you can get
into top ten during DD, there is just no reason to help the non gamers collect
their rewards. It will just be more of the same again next round. If you are a
gamer (as opposed to a poorly socialized child with low self esteem that thinks
winning by means other than skill and effort means anything except that you're a dope)
you should be as offended as most of the real gamers here (who have mostly gone
into protection mode and quit playing already) and have no desire to help these
nit wits gain from the unsportsman like conduct and hurry the day they can do it again.

And help the cheaters and donaters collect thier ill gotten rewards and hurry the
time that they can ruin another round and collect more ill gotten rewards? pfff

DO NOT JOIN DD!
11  General Talk / General Discussion / Re: The Good the Bad and the Ugly (Mission feedback) on: June 02, 2008, 06:15:06 PM
Another thing that is not under the control of the designers is how often the mission shows up.
There are worthless Ancient Commander missions at half the systems you go to. But you can
go for weeks between seeing a single Slipgate or Slingshot. (And how weirdly and coincidentally
similar those two are.) Apparently Emi just doesn't like missions that give turns and has them
set to like one in a thousand chance of spawning. Or more like one in ten thousand.
12  General Talk / General Discussion / Re: The Good the Bad and the Ugly (Mission feedback) on: June 02, 2008, 02:18:40 PM
Even talking about rewards, much less basing ratings on them is ridiculous,
since it is not under the control of the author. For instance, P Party is set
up so that you fight 50% of encounter FP and to pay 100%. But in reality,
it comes out the other way around.

The only reward types that pay decently are creds and workers. Everything
else pays peanuts. Unfortunately, we did not know how that it would be
implemented when we were designing the original missions, before they
were introduced into the game. The ratings should be for Storyline and Design,
not Reward, as we have zero control over how much the rewards are.
Any mission that can double fail should be taken out and shot. Along
with their authors.

Command Decision pays decent rewards if you do not try the alien jump gate
and scavenge at that step instead. Even I have given up trying to get the
final reward. There is only a 25% chance of getting to fly the last fight, (50%
that the jump gate will work and 50% that your crew doesn't mutiny if it does work.)
which pays 100% reward in creds and has the funniest story line wording of all.

As to editing missions; yeah, in theory that's how it works. But I've had both new
missions and edits to old ones in queue for a month now. No action.

PS: Love you too BR. 1 (edit) And you're right, it is RT PR, as intended. Glad you noticed. ;)

PPS. (edit) I can't believe Gold Transport isn't getting better ratings. I always give it
8/10, even when it fails. It is the only mission that you can get good rewards for FP's
too big to fly the fight step.  And two ways no less. A very well designed mission.
13  General Talk / General Discussion / Re: End Of DDay Rankings(3 Seconds before it ended) on: June 02, 2008, 01:59:29 PM
Losted is right. We did not belong in T10.
I know that Dark's box froze on him. Don't know what happened to Wiley.
But they both had a ton more creds than me and Losted.
Not complaining of course, but it was just luck of the draw that got us in.
14  General Talk / General Discussion / Re: Mission Creater Thread on: May 07, 2008, 05:49:14 PM
lol, 5% and I failed three times in a row?
What are the odds for that? Like 1,600 to one?
But yeah, I have bad luck. I blew like 300 turns chasing myself in Risky Business
before I finally gave up and tried BadGuy and then my crew mutinied.  I was
tempted to give my own mission a 1/1 rating, lol.

(I haven't rated JAN yet, because I haven't seen enough of it
to say and figured I must just be having a run of bad luck.)
15  General Talk / General Discussion / Re: Mission Creater Thread on: May 07, 2008, 11:12:55 AM
Flown it three more times.
The talk to officer failed every time.
The fly to nebula failed every time.
That makes seven attempts and never more than three steps in.
For goodness sakes people, don't make an option turn itself off
if it's something they need to be able to do to get through the mission.

I'm a little troubled by how the rankings are being handled.
The rewards are not really under control of the designers.
Only workers and credits pay a decent amount. All the other
stuff pays peanuts. I pointed this out days ago in this thread.
So they are going to get banged on the rewards rating, even
though the rewards are set to 100%.
