as a fellow starter let me give you this personal opinion as advice:
take on a lot of missions with workers as reward and invest some cash into new workers too from time to time;inevidably your cash income will rapidly start to rise at your asteroid base.Nothing so nice as to come home, turn on yer systems and find a small 200 mil where there was 5 cent last evening.
At the moment i got 2.207.241.183 workers stacking up 766.403 credits every 10 minutes. When numbers start to rise up there, new opportunities for custom ships really start to open up...

meh,10 mil a piece and they fall faster then my starter swarmers...
tried designing a battleship myself;well wouldnt really call it 'design',i just crammed in some heavy weapons covered by masses of armour.
210 mil a piece;better start savin up.
Speaking of wich,do battleships get bonusses in bigger numbers,or how does that work?
I get the feeling the AI always focusses on the strongest opponent.
My Primary swarmer fleet has the most experience and tends to be the biggest in numbers, and they always end up with higher casualty ratings, several hundred where the inexperienced second and third fleet with no exp whatsoever come out with 5 or 6 victims.
And my battleships always get the brunt of the damage. If i take some the enemy always focusses on them.
Doesnt combat tactics advise seeking out the weakest link?Or are these Noble warriors, looking for a worthy foe?Strange AI indeed.
Since its impossible to have a fleet consist of more than one ship type,is it possible to add 'escort' fleets?does that actually work?
I'm looking into such matters as we speak, but there's so much intel on these pages and so little memory available in me noggin'...

just recently started playing the game, and getting interrested into custom designs.
But my current knowledge of the designs makes my works crappy, expensive projects that end up destroyed pretty fast.
Would anyone care to offer some starter designs?
Mainly looking for battleships in the 10 to 20 mil price range, though low budget swarmers are welcome too,as are any other types of advisable designs.
Thanks ahead.
