Latewly Ive noticed Im not getting any mining items.  I only do encypts within a certain range - so that may be it - but lately Ive been grinding missions way down to .. like level 200 - and still not getting any mining items.

Also XP items seem to be all but gone.

I feel the mining items are a bug - xp just seems to rare.

All I ever get are marines items - theres way too many.

I posted an idea to chan ge warp items to free turns of travel - that would get a bit more movement happening - and the turns couldnt be used for anything else.

Jessie - its not supposed to increase their warp percentage, the only thing it is supposed to do is eliminate any chance to warp within a certain enemy fleetpower range.

The option is mainly if you want to stick to your base to get the base bonus.

I guess theres a chance that something has gone wrong in the code with the implementation - I havent noticed anything changing though.

My advice is tech up on warp disruptors.

The turns just set the rate of growth - more turns is faster growth - faster growth means you hit caps faster - so I like it as it is now.

I was referring to FTP who thought 22 shields was a silly idea, not you Kenn.  Also Basil insisted more than 8 was a waste - not true.

The number of required shields or comps varies with the target percentage.

Didnt realise Zelox was a counter - I tend to agree with FTP - attacking can be raising hell, countering is reactive.

Anyone can give you a click to increase or decrease your rep, most people will only bother to change your rep if they feel strongly about your post - positive or negative.

Abusive and spam posts are not tolerated at all, and will usually be removed quickly - moderators can impose other penalties.

If you state your opinion, then you should ensure that you attach good reasons for it.

Good reasons are; logical, well thought out, described clearly, in the best interests of the game, not selfish, not emotive, acknowledge differing opinions.

If you step outside of that, then you may step into a minefield.

Personally I dont play on SOMAIN - so Im not qualified to make any suggestion there.  Some players from SOMAIN have certainly raised the issue of self neb and been quite passionate about it - so I suspect that the issue is impacting people on both servers more or less equally. 

But, SOWARS is a PvP server - more methods, reasons and rewards for engaging in combat are inline with the PvP concept - permanently and completely avoiding combat interaction with other players certainly isnt.

Several times Ive raised suggestions about increasing rewards for PvP play - perhaps that is another way to tackle this issue.  At the moment PvP is costly regardless if you are successful or not, and avoiding combat is clearly an advantage.  If PvP rewards outstripped other rewards, then those non-interactive players would be at a disadvantage.

I wont quote Brokens wonderful posts - Ill just say theres no-one on SOWARS that I know of thats studied harder at the school of hard knocks than Broken. 

His is an example of tenacity thats won my respect, and Im sure the respect of anyone on SOWARS who has followed his progress.

Those guys doing this should realise they dont have the respect of anyone on the server - and they wont have it until they get out of neb - take the flogging thats coming their way - and then get back up again and play properly.

Kenquin if you make an adding formula for shields you will make it way to complicate and you will never get the right answer. Try to get the real formula ;)

Hmm - I remember a post about a week ago where you were scoffing at MeGuRen for his 22 shields .. so you didnt have the formula then.

Anyhow - as anyone who's resolved it will tell you, its not straight forward - and unless you have some leads from someone, or a good mathematical knowledge your unlikely to solve it.

Your the first player Ive seen who's shown real knowledge of ship design.

Youll hear a lot how people know how to design ships - but everything they say indicates to the contrary - its extremely hard to say nothing, but highly recommended.

One of the advantages that this game has is that it can be played in more than one way.  Forcing players to PvP would detract from this.  One popular way to balance out the economics is to set up areas that are specifically PvP (no neb available).  The rewards for events/missions within the PvP areas should be higher (or unique) as the risk is greater.  There is also the idea of using alliance bases as a safe(r) haven.  This would remove the necessity for PvP areas, but would create the necessity for every new player to be automatically placed into a temp alliance.
There are other possible solutions, I can get into them if this is a direction that everyone likes.

If you play SOWARS then self nebbing is retarded.  Its a PvP server - so if you want to play without PvP go do a crossword puzzle.

Without inside knowledge from Emi or another inside method to get the info, then this could only be estimated after a crap load of testing - even after extensive testing your only going to have a vague idea.

Nightguard and myself recently ended a round of fairly epic proportions - inline with the new economy of SOWARS.

In the space of one attack, and epic counter attack - our combined costs exceeded 40 trillion credits.  Ive estimated Nightguards costs, not knowing his discounts and exact losses.

Still - a huge battle - and suffice to say Nightguard is a well respected opponent.

It would be nice if he had some more support from his Alliance - come on guys - get some runs on the board, get your segs and workers up - PvP is what this server is about - and huge battles that shake the galaxy.
