Title: RT Galaxy DDay Device Post by: ars68 on July 28, 2006, 10:20:36 PM ok, going off of what Emi said about real time salvaging in missions:
what if the DDay device was put as part of this as well? it could work as such: (and going off of a couple other topics, I think :))) somewhere in the galaxy, 20 reaver fleets will have a DDay device (or just part thereof) and all fleets must be found, conquered, and salvaged. this in turn, upon completion, will make the players mothership (or planet, if the dday device must be put on a planet) as an active part of completing the DDay device. much like signing up to research DDay Device. however, once all 20 DDay devices are found and salvaged, (and consequently researched, switched on, installed on a planet, or whatever other requirement) then DDay phase 1 shall start. at phase 1: all holders of the DDay devices shall be marked on the map, or the planets thereof, or whatever, and if one of the devices are to fall, then the other commanders will have 10 minutes to recover and re-activate the DDay device. additionally, the commanders who are in possesion of them will be marked on DDay list. if they hold all 20 for 24 hours: (clock stops in 10 minute intercessions) at phase 2: DDay begins, like it would if it were activated now. additional notes: this would mean that a commanders mothership must be attackable at some point on the galaxy view. either that, the DDay devices must be installed on a planet, and are null until then, meaning carrying it on your mothership doesn't do anything. the main problem: it will be sadly, until someone has a way to solve it, much, MUCH to easy for someone in top 10 (especially like lammalord, or someone in DDD) to intentionally grab one of the DDay devices, and guard it with everything they have, thus insuring DDay never goes off. maybe... more then 20 out there? like an additional 20 as well? and every once in a while, one not installed/researched/activated will be secretly stolen and re enter the galaxy somewhere else, in another revear fleet? hmm... planet shiskabob... Title: Re: RT Galaxy DDay Device Post by: fat monkey13 on July 31, 2006, 06:22:15 AM If there are over 20 DDay Devices though, then wouldn't only one be needed to destroy the galaxy?
Title: Re: RT Galaxy DDay Device Post by: ars68 on July 31, 2006, 02:12:58 PM hmm... galaxy is a big place, maybe you need 20 of them set up in specific stars for it to cover the entire area? lol. anyway, that might work, there are a random set of 20 stars that must have a DDay in them, and if a DDay is found and failed to be set up in one of those places, some anomaly happens and it dissappears, lol. still, easy for one person to singlehandedly stop all DDays, but not quite as easily.
Title: Re: RT Galaxy DDay Device Post by: Gunfighter Frank on August 01, 2006, 04:04:17 AM like 777 of them and the commaders that have them must activate them
and you may only have 1 in your possion. for the DDay devise Title: Re: RT Galaxy DDay Device Post by: ars68 on August 02, 2006, 11:30:44 PM na, I think 777 of them is to much, I could 666 of them, just for that number, but in reality, even 100, as an absolute max, is still a bit much. the reason being, then someone just finds another DDay device and takes the place of the one lost, hundreds of times, until it goes off, that's no fun. hmm... perhaps... in order to assault a DDay device planet, you must send in a force of comparable strength. any less gets wiped out by fleets, anymore gets detected and vaporized by DDay device, lol. (in other words, 2x the enemy fleet power, to 50% of enemy fleet power, fleet power only included)
hmm... however, this would also mean it is still possible for a high power person to simply attack 20-30 times until all the ships fall... so that might not work either... man... of course, still not exactly easy as it is now, either, so I suppose not much point in worrying about that. I suppose trying to get it off IS half the fun :) Title: Re: RT Galaxy DDay Device Post by: Seither on August 05, 2006, 03:37:19 PM It's a good idea, just has some minor kinks to work out.
