Forum - Space Odyssey MMORPG - a massive free online space game

I have thought about this for awhile. I think we could have videos on YouTube being basic tutorials on how to start the game, how to build ships, eyc. Preferably this should be done by somebody who already has a YouTube account and has some subscribers so they can see your videos.

I think i've came to face the truth.. there isn't ever going to be a big player base on spaceo.. as nice as it would be I just don't see it happening for a number of reasons

Yeah, we all realize that, but there are things that can be done long before making an obscure video on youtube. Emi seems to be active lately, maybe that's a good sign.

We'll try and get some new players, will do some advertising and see maybe have more ingame events.

The reason why spaceo doesn't have a big player base because it's the same ppl every round winning the rounds time and time again. That's why alot of the old players left. That's why when new players join think it's good then realise that they can't get anywhere because there is exp players that just don't give a poop about training anyone to play the game, and in the truth of it we just want to have fun not just dominate the game.

So i'm all for the youtube vid. I think it will open newer players eyes to see the fun in the game and also help make the game challenging

I'm calling bullshit on your reasons.

The past 10(?) rounds have seen TONNES of new winners, and hell, every round has seen at least some new winners. Spaceo used to be successful so your argument is invalid.

Throw in that countless times EVERY vet that uses the forums has offered help, anyone who sees the chat offers help, and there's been multiple training alliances...that's an old argument that won't get you anywhere.

Apparently I'm not in chat giving out tips and tricks enough or responding to people who ask me questions (everyone who asks me questions typically ends up a top 10 player and gets more information then what they ask.)

okay okay i take most of it back but when i started off which was i think 2005 ppl just didn't give a crap, but oh well i miss DZ he was fun to play SO with

05 nobody cared eh? Yeeeaah, let's go with that. Let's see, round 2 was my first round and I learned from Lightseeker, for instance, who openly taught anybody who asked him anything right up to the end of his SpaceO career. There's an example...but the rest of the top players all throughout the years with the exception of...well, no exceptions...were willing to help.

I agree with Borgy.. He taught me, fury, spank and clarkie how to play.. Basically he made NLA! Sure we've developed and picked up some other little tricks ourselves, but Borgy made us into top 10 players:P now we're top 5, generally. And we do also try to help teach people :P

ok here is a reason many people would not work. encounters there are not enough for the players we have now. they don't spawn enough for there to be enough.  :12:

The more people there are - the more encounters spawn.
