Title: SO Main - Council Protection for Galaxy planets
Post by: SirEmi on June 02, 2011, 08:34:52 PM
In order to protect lower commanders development in the Galaxy and have fair disputes for planetary space, the Council has decreed that a commander can only attack another commanders planet if the attacker total assets do not exceed 50x times the defender total assets.

Assets are:
   - mothership credits
   - secret base credits
   - secret base workers
   - credits on planets, mining facilities
   - colonists on planets
   - fleets value and marines, reserves included

If the attacker has 50x times or more assets then the defender, he will not be able to attack the planet.

Stations / mining facilities / system fleets can still be attacked.

Hey, this is a great idea, E, surprisingly, but are you sure 50x is low enough? I mean, it might be that we have to wait and see, but I'm not sure, really.

Yes, I think 50x times assets is ok, because planets can be barricaded to withstand more punishment but, from 50x and up it really doesn't matter as the defender has no chance... so that's why we're trying to promote fair fights.

Great idea but my planet was taking yesterday :crybaby: , also i think 50x is too high because if your planet has 100bil colonists then you can easily be taken by a 5trill planet

Well I did a lot of testing, and a planet that is setup properly with 1 billion colonists defending it can easily take out 30-40 billion marines...
We'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

Don't forget, it doesn't just look at planets, it looks at EVERYTHING, so I think 50x is big enough.

i Wizard Of War am fighting for a more level field personally ive lost many low level players in my alliance to unfair advantages in the game, I dont knock the attacker they are playing by the same rules we are but do we want to build this game or kill it? I still feel there is a problem with a guy having 1000x your power droping down and zeroing you but one step at a time... lets build a fun fair game.

Is this going to apply to Commanders hitting other Commanders as well? What about Stations? May as well right?

No offence Sp4nky, but do you even read ?

I'm not totally against this update but it is a bad idea introducing a new rule mid-round. It would have been better to implement it at the start of a round.

Thanks for the input, like I already stated this update does not affect the Top 10 in any way and is only in the benefit of the game.

well that's not entirely true.  The NLA was going for a feat that has not happened before we put forth a goal of having the top ten consist of entirely NLA and now that we can not attack and/or cut into peoples income ergo taking out planets it kinda makes it impossible :(

nah it just means us lower ones in NLA will have to actually play haha.. I reckon (if sp4nky doesn't max too quickly) that I'll get top 10, or close to it :P

This Rule is only good if lower commanders manage to get a plenet that will give them creds more than 4-5 mine production...

But how will they can get to even that big planet?? If their stations / mines keep popping up by 50x more FP guys..

In most cases they could not even develop a planet than a bloody rock... It costs quite a lot to get mods added onto your planet. With mines not protected they dont even stand a chance if any alliance decide to make fun of this rule... unless they spend 200-300bil to research for Warp Bubble for all their stations..

Warp bubble only take about 15 bill if I'm not mistaken, and besides that, you can just invest in cloaking??

You are mistaken... lol... lvl 1 takes 18.75Bi / 40CP. Never bothered to do it myself but considering the same logic applies to that of all research, getting lvl 5 or 6 wrap will take you 200-300Bil and loads of CP...

About cloaking, last round Spanky had lvl25+ scanner. Surely no new or lower FP commander can top that..

I am just highlighting the flaw in this rule... I am not even bothered by it.

Overall sounds like a good update.

Btw Master Obiwan you do realize you only need to research one level of Emergency Warp Bubble right?

LOL.. didn't knew that. in the last few yrs never ever bothered to research that. Reading the help, mining facility still gets popped.. right
