Title: Attack success
Post by: Grondavor on July 26, 2010, 06:43:17 PM
ok the way that succesful attacks are decided is complete bullshit and i know most players would agree with me about this...  take a look at this attack i made.

Assault result

Grondavor(#119869)'s 1250 / 1250 (100%) Eternally Damned P-Ship are destroyed during battle.
Grondavor(#119869)'s 1250 / 1250 (100%) Eternally Damned P-Ship are destroyed during battle.
Grondavor(#119869)'s 625.494.347 marines where killed in the battle.

vanaisa(#7493)'s 1 TheHatedOne v12 are destroyed during battle.
vanaisa(#7493)'s 1 TheHatedOne v11 are destroyed during battle.
vanaisa(#7493)'s 1 TheHatedOne v10 are destroyed during battle.
vanaisa(#7493)'s 1 TheHatedOne v9 are destroyed during battle.
vanaisa(#7493)'s 1 Decoy are destroyed during battle.
vanaisa(#7493)'s 1 Decoy are destroyed during battle.
vanaisa(#7493)'s 1 Decoy are destroyed during battle.
vanaisa(#7493)'s 1 Decoy are destroyed during battle.
vanaisa(#7493)'s 1.955.900.000 marines where killed in the battle.

You boarded vanaisa(#7493)'s fleet and mothership.
You destroyed vanaisa(#7493)'s 8 ships and lost 2500/2508 ships.

Primary Objective: Destroy 10% of the enemy while losing less percent of the armada than the enemy.
Your attack failed and achieved nothing.

As you can see i lost only 2 fleets of pships which i planned on losing but killed 4 mains which set her back a hell of a lot more than losing the pships set me back...  this should count as a succesful attack..  its bullshit and i know a lot of players feel the same way

In order to succeed in a attack

A: You need to kill a certain percent of the enemies fleet power
B: You need to kill a higher % of the opponents fleets power then you lost

The logic of this is that in order to collect your reward you need to have more fleet left then your opponent.

Yes but it really should be based on cost because the 2 fleets of pships cost me like 400m max.  the 4 mains i killed cost her like 20b at least....  so obviously my attack accomplished something and therefore logically should be a succesful attack....

No your attack killed a higher cost in ships then his. Without seeing your entire attacking fleet I can't go into more details but rating attack succes based on ship power killed, would make kami attacks far to strong. You could kami someone lose all but one ship and make back the cost of the kamis.

Next time when debating attacks post your entire fleet Grond.

There is a simple solution to this... dont attack with pships

attacking with pships is smart because it made sure that all of my mains killed one of her mains...  and i figured that the stats on my pships werent important, because the stats arent what im talking about here...  im saying that it cost me 400m to kill 20b in ships and yet somehow that is a failed attack..  its bullshit

This is a situation that most PVP players find themselves.

Whenever I kami someone and I use some p ship fleets, I always have a main as my last fleet. I find that with the inclusion of this main, I will end up losing less in terms of percentage then my opponents. This makes my attack successful.

Was beginning to think I was the only one smart enough to realize this... :P

That is a good point tony and grond if what your saying was what happened then pships wouldnt work to protect your mains because you woudnt get a neb because the cost of your phips was so low

i would be perfectly fine with that..  i rarely use pships anyway.  i think pships ruin pvp in the game because people just hide behind them and nothing can ever touch them.  there shouldnt be something like that in a war game
