Title: So Main: Market
Post by: Don Esteban on December 17, 2009, 07:53:38 AM
I might just be getting confused but it seems to me that the market is bugged on SO:Main. CHOAM buy proces are always higher than their Sell prices so that even if I buy at the minimum bid there is no way of not making a huge loss.

If this is not a bug and I'm being an idiot feel free to give me the abuse deserved :)

something to do with researching stuff that makes choam buy your stuff for a higher price and the stuff that makes them sell you stuff.

Yes, that's what I thought (and certainly when I discvered the market at the end of last round that was the case) but it seems not.....

Now as I have a degree in Economics you would think I could work out how to turn a profit in the market...either there is a bug or I'm being incredibly dumb - I'd say about 50/50 probability for each :)

Any yes, I have looked at the research for improving prices but there is such a big difference that I'd need to use all my CP's just for that and that just doesn't seem a good idea.

Just checked and for example Hydrogen batteries are being sold by CHOAM at around 70k/unit and the buy price is only 48k/unit

Buy offers are what the Market buys stuff from you at

Sell offers are what the Market sells you stuff at

If the Buy offers are greater then the Sell offers you can make a profit.....

PS: I know this post is a bit old Spayed

Kenquinn, spayed ment that when you buy it the price/unit ratio is higher then when you sell it back to choam.

One thing to notice is:

Sells:
CHOAM     Silicon     500.000   435   62.574.750     217.500.000   0 m           => the price/unit ratio is for the outbid ratio otherwise its 125
CHOAM    Hacked Data    1.000.000   70.794   40.883.535.000    70.794.000.000   6 m    => here its 40883

When you look at the buy screen:
CHOAM     Hacked Data     1.000.000   0   49.553   49.553.000.000   4 m      (9b profit)
CHOAM    Silicon    500.000   0   304   152.000.000   10 m (90m profit)

So in other words the market is not gimped that was what I was trying to make clear
