The trailer made some good points, lol.
Let's hope this isn't a high-cost joke...  :P

They're trying a revenue system a bit more popular in Japan, or wherever. They discuss it in their blog somewhere.

I can't find it.  :2:
This was pretty niftythough:
Quote from: Ben Cousins, awesome guy
...let's just clear up a couple of things. Firstly, we have no plans for selling maps for Battlefield Heroes. Our game design and our business model is designed around the fact that 95% of the people playing the game never pay a penny. We want this to be the best free game experience online and we will be delighted for 95% of you to play the game for hundreds of hours, fully level up your character and enjoy a long expansive experience without spending any money at all, ever.

Secondly - we are launching with two maps, but we already have one other in development - we are playtesting it as we speak and it's great. Should be ready in the months, if not weeks, directly after launch. We have a full-time level designer assigned in the game's post-launch team to keep making new maps (if you want more that is, we can make vehicles or game modes if you want instead) and we will be polling the community to find out what type of content you want to play.

So, to re-iterate. We are launching with two maps, we have no plans to sell maps, and more maps will be available for free soon after launch.

Ya, nice. It's better than that one multiplayer game that actually sold weapons.

Good question...
BF2142 had a special assault rifle replacing the original one for preorders.
But I don't know anything else.

They are running the beta now
but it is already closed

They are premiering the game at The Game Convention in Germany Aug 20-24,
So I am guessing they will release it right after the convention
OR hoping at least

What about Zephy and Chronos?
I prefer to be the renegade a-hole that annoys the hell out of everyone (there's ALWAYS a class that works perfectly for it), though I might like to join, lol.

ALrighty.............(again not trying to double post)

As of right now, there are so many people want to join the game, that they actually crashed the server. Wish is a great thing. Loads of players are going to be playing.

Next part, they have pushed back the release date to later in 2008, so maybe around Oct. or Nov.

Next and most important, they are going be handed out beta keys as soon as the server gets back up. How might you ask. Click Here (http://www.battlefield-heroes.com/news/beta-keys)

So hopefully we can get up and running in a couple of months or so

P.S. Looking and deciding the name for the clan, all suggestions are welcome. Wanting something dark

You think Battlefield Heroes looks cool. Check out this game: http://combatarms.nexon.net/Intro.aspx (http://combatarms.nexon.net/Intro.aspx)

Title: Re: Battlefield Heroes

Combat Arms may or may not be cool, but it was produced by Nexon. Nexon creating games that are Free to Play is nothing new. A mainstream company like EA releasing a game as Free to Play is. That is probably why people are getting excited about Battlefield Heroes.

Anyway, we will see how this game stacks up when they release it around New Year's.

Well Combat Arms is already out and it has better graphics than what it looks like Battlefield Heroes is gonna have.

battlefeild hero's aint ment to have th best and most realistic graphics out, its a cartoon game and i probz will give both a go

Title: Re: Battlefield Heroes
Post by: Chronos on August 18, 2008, 03:03:56 PM
Graphics? Seriously, graphics?

If graphics were all I cared about, I'd go out and buy Crysis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crysis). Alas, I'd rather play a game that is more fun, like System Shock 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_Shock_2).

I am not so excited about Combat Arms because I have seen Nexon games and was relatively unimpressed. When I get home from vacation, I will try Combat Arms out, but I am reserving judgment until then.

However, I have been impressed with the Battlefield series and EA, which is why I am excited about Battlefield Heroes, my chance to experience the franchise for free.

Anyway, it is useless to try and argue about which is the better game when one is not even out yet to compare. Thank you, Jan`go Vhett, for enlightening us about this possibly good Free to Play FPS game. We shall see how everything pans out early next year.

First graphics is just one thing.
Second true you can't compare the two that much since one isn't out yet.
Third Combat Arms is fun and it has a really good reward system for doing good on it but it never gets unbalanced.
For example they have ranks based on your experience, and today me and my bro were playing a server together and this higher level guys joins us.
Well we started to kick his butt so bad that he claimed we were hacking. lol
So it really doesn't matter what level you are it is still based on each individual's overall skill.

kinda like enemy territory...

and heroes different from other battlefields in a way its more like a team deathmatch rather than capture points.

Heroes is also an equal oppurtunity game.
You are matched with your skill level
That makes the game great, all in itself

That would be Battlefield Bad Company...

They plan to sell items to help you level faster,
but no weapons or items that will affect gameplay will be introduced
