Title: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on May 31, 2008, 10:10:05 PM Are u guys ready for UEFA Euro 2008? I sure am. it starts June 7th ( my b-day) and goes through June my fave team (Germany) will play June 8th. England did not qualfily whuich shocked me. Greece the defending champs (OMG!!) qualfied as well and have a moderate group they should get past the way they played in '04.
The group of death includes Italy who won the World Cup, France who finished 2nd in the WC, The Dutch, and some other team that won't get in to the next round. the dark horse team is proly the team from Turkey. They beat Greece 4-1 in group qualifiers and then needing a win against Norway the vets on the 2002 WC team rose to the occassion as they qualified for Euro 2008. 1st Germany, 2nd France, 3rd Spain 4th Portugal Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: zephyrblade on June 03, 2008, 06:22:29 AM Germany huh?
We'll see. :D Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 03, 2008, 09:18:48 AM Well zehpyr who do u think will win
Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: zephyrblade on June 03, 2008, 10:28:12 AM I don't like France, so I won't say France. lol I believe either Italy or Turkey will win. But hey, I'm terrible at judging this sort of thing. Still, I can't believe England failed to qualify. 0o Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 03, 2008, 11:16:18 AM Italy lost Fabio Cannavaro for the tournament. that's going to hurt. and Turkey i think will become a major power in futbol espically Europe in around 2 years if they get to the 2nd round of euro and then use that confidence to place high at South Africa in 2010

Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: Mobius13 on June 04, 2008, 04:54:40 PM lol
we used to be good, now we suck for some reason... alot of our best players only play in the cup (btw many street kids in brazil have more soccer skills than most professional soccer teams) Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: waylain16 on June 05, 2008, 12:25:17 PM (btw many street kids in brazil have more soccer skills than most professional soccer teams) That goes for a lot of smaller countries as well, all the kids in a small town is a soccer ball and makeshift goals Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 06, 2008, 10:58:50 AM I always wonder why they don't pick the street kids
Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: blakranger51 on June 06, 2008, 01:03:13 PM Malnutrition. They can't play the full 90 minutes.
Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: Mobius13 on June 06, 2008, 06:04:48 PM since i've lived along with these "street kids" half my life in brazil i can safely say most of them are in good shape... and they can play just as long as a professional soccer player.
Btw, if they cant afford to join an official team they just create their own street team. Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 06, 2008, 07:31:32 PM or blak they can come on as a sub
Posting this on June 7th Well we have kicked off Euro 2008 and so far we are at the half of The swiss v.s. the Czechs. score 0-0. Saty tuned to this post for anyalis of every game and team Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 07, 2008, 08:21:16 PM sorry about double post, don't want to keep editing my 1 post.
So this is what happened Switzerland 0 1 Czech Republic Portugal 2 0 Turkey Swiss and Czechs. Very evenly matched game for the most part, but the Swiss created more chances and i think they desrved a draw. The portugese game was a great showing from Ronlado and Pepe. And Pepe scored the firrst goal on a nice run by a slididng tackle in the box by a Turkish def. that actually helped the ball go in. Tommorow Austria V.s. Croatia GermanyV.s. Poland Once again here r my top4 1st Germany, 2nd France, 3rd Spain, and 4th Portugal Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 08, 2008, 04:48:21 PM once again sorry about double or triple or quad posting
Austria 0 1 Croatia Germany 2 0 Poland The Co-hosts Austria should have desvred a draw like the Swiss. they created a lot of chances in the 2nd half and in the late 1st half. The PK was arguable, and in my opininon it should not have been a foul because Olic of Croatia pushed back and dived for effect a little too much. The Germans, namely Lukas Poldoski who scored both goals, just dominated the Poles. They r now 12-0-4 all time against Poland. I think nothing came out positive for the poles who still have never beaten the Germans. Tommorrow France V.s. Romania Italy V.s. Holland My picks France 2 0 Romaina Italy 1 1 Holland Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 09, 2008, 10:20:31 PM Romania 0 0 France
Holland 3 0 Italy Romania V.s. France/France created more chances and they should have finished 2 of those chances, the Analka header, and the shot at the top of the 18. Both defenses played well. Ribery was shut down by the Romanian left back Mutu (i tihnk that is his name) and Thierry Henry looks like he is not going to play anytime soon. Holand V.s. Italy 2 words.Pure Domination. Holland played liked they did in the 1970's and played counter style futbol. They beat the world champs for the first time in 30 years. the first gaol by van Nisterrooy was offside. The next 2 goals were just brillaint counter attacks by the Dutch. Holland wins the group of death. Tommorow Spain V.s. Russia Sweden V.s. Greece My picks Spain 2 Russia 1 Sweden 1 Greece 2 Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 11, 2008, 11:43:23 AM Spain 4 1 Russia
Sweden 2 0 Greece Spain V.s. Russia David Villa did all the hard work scoring the first Euro hat trick since Euro 2000. Easy game, gave up an unlucky goal at the end for spain, Sweden V.s. Greece Ibrivamovic had a briilaint strike then 5 min. later the Greeks got unlucky and the Swedes beat the def. champs Greece 2-0. Today Group A Czech Republic (2nd place in group A) V.s Portugal (1st) Turkey (4th in A) V.s. Switzerland (3rd) Also elimination game whoever loses is out. if tie they may have a chance. My picks Czech Republic 0 1 Portugal Turkey 1 3 Switzerland Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 14, 2008, 09:37:17 AM sorry my net was down i'll get back to posting today
Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 20, 2008, 09:57:05 AM Well the quarterfinals are underway, and Germany defeated Portugal 3-2 in a wild game. They move to play Croatia or Turkey.
Croatia 2 1 Turkey Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 21, 2008, 10:43:23 AM The drama of Croatia and Turkey was just unimageinable. Croatia scores with2 min. to go in the 2nd ot period. but in Stoppage Time the Turks leveled. The Turks dominated the PK's and they move on to face the mighty Germans.
Holland 3 1 Russia is my pick for today's game Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: Derflinger on June 21, 2008, 05:36:50 PM Quote Holland 3 1 Russia is my pick for today's game bingo. almost :))Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 23, 2008, 08:47:31 PM Stuuned i was.
Germany 3 1 Turkey Spain 2 2 Russia (Spain 4-2 0n PK's) Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 25, 2008, 09:04:44 PM Well Germany wins 3-2! Phillp Lahm is the hero for the Germans
Title: Re: Euro 2008 Post by: ninjastrike40 on June 30, 2008, 08:25:28 PM Spain 1 0 Germany
Very great game, the Germans dominated the opening but on the 33rd min. Xavi Hernadez p[layed a ball to Fernando Torres, who Lahm should have gotten the ball because he was in the better position, but Lehmann should not have came off his line in the 1st place. Great performance by both teams but it was the the Spaniards who hoisted their 2nd Euro Cup and their 1st in 44 years thanks to Fernando Torres's goal. |
