Title: Newbie start Post by: SirEmi on April 20, 2008, 02:12:45 AM - SO Main: The mothership AI will offer an interactive mission called Serenity, a special mission only for newbie commanders.
In this mission the newbie commander will learn the first steps in the game, earn some credits / segments / experience, build a couple of ships and fight the first battle. Total value of the bonus / ships etc in the mission depends on the progress on the round, the exchange rate. At 12.5 bil exhcange, it should be about 50 - 70 mil credits in ships, etc. Serenity is optional and only the newbie commander can do it, and only once. If you lose track of the mission before completion, you can find it in the system you started the game. It lasts for 24 hours or until completion. - SO WARS: Newbie commander start with 3k turns and 50 mil credits Title: Re: Newbie start Post by: AFB on April 20, 2008, 03:56:04 AM - SO WARS: Newbie commander start with 3k turns and 50 mil credits 50 mil? Wasn''t that supposed to be 50 bil? :14: Title: Re: Newbie start Post by: jessiedog on April 20, 2008, 10:01:00 AM on wars server could we have the new commanders start with extra segs as well. that way they see what needs to be done to get better. most new commanders just look for someone inactive to raid, and then they think that is how you get rich.
theres still a lot more we could do, but thanks emi Title: Re: Newbie start Post by: Silence444 on April 20, 2008, 02:44:44 PM mmm yummy noob segs... nah but seriously... new commanders are a joke in wars, they need more stuff weather its research, segs or extra cp etc idc
Title: Re: Newbie start Post by: SlayerX on April 21, 2008, 12:49:52 PM just give newbies the entire lot of turns we have already used in the last year. but make it so they still gain turns to a max of 3000 so they dont have to spend all those turns at once.
Title: Re: Newbie start Post by: Silence444 on April 21, 2008, 08:51:19 PM hey... thats actually a rly good idea... maybe not the entire amount but a % there of.
Title: Re: Newbie start Post by: jessiedog on April 21, 2008, 09:10:41 PM ye that was brought up before. but most newbies would just extend mothership with all at once and not really get anything done.
Title: Re: Newbie start Post by: the broken on April 22, 2008, 08:08:37 AM they need to have them filltered though, maybe after 1 month of playing then they can use them as then they ould now what to do and maybe 2k turns a day at a time, that would mean 3440 turns + voting amount per day, also after a month they should have gotten the basics of the game atleast
Title: Re: Newbie start Post by: Silence444 on April 22, 2008, 06:53:44 PM hey wate a second... anyone know what happens when u spend over 400k + turns in a single go on mothership expansion at 300 segs (perhaps even after commander lvling up for segs)? because i can guarantee some noob will try it... or players will create alts and use them as big seg farms.
lol i agree with broken Title: Re: Newbie start Post by: SlayerX on April 23, 2008, 12:07:33 PM farming your alts can get you banned if i remember correctly.
Title: Re: Newbie start Post by: The Hood on April 23, 2008, 06:16:22 PM Hmmmm....seems we have a case for copyright infringement.....time to spend some of those big bucks Emi for use of the name Serenity.. :))
Title: Re: Newbie start Post by: Silence444 on April 23, 2008, 07:39:36 PM just change the spelling n its all good for example Sereni-T :P
n still... farming alts would be ground for a ban but what if the segs went to other players? perhaps not even as an intentional farm. i know for example that my brother would spend all of his turns on extending mothership b4 he quit n then get hit feeding almost as much as he grew. Title: Re: Newbie start Post by: Seither on April 27, 2008, 11:58:56 PM this could be great, then again...noobies never read anything, so they'll probably ignore the mission too.
Title: Re: Newbie start Post by: SirEmi on April 28, 2008, 12:17:07 AM The newbie mission seems to be working fine, helping the newbie commanders and making it more interesting for them. Overall an increase in newbie numbers after the update :)

Overall an increase in newbie numbers after the update :) well that's good. I remember when noobies asked dumb questions, we'd tell them to read they guide, they'd get mad, and then quit after really messing up. |
