Title: New Players
Post by: jessiedog on April 03, 2008, 06:30:44 PM
since the wars server has been going on for a while, new players start off WAAAAY behind even something like rank 100. maybe if new players started with like 10 bil and maybe 10k segs that would help them catch up and keep them interested. the wars server is losing players rapidly. at least 2 of the former top 30 recently (within a month of so) have stopped playing and are now being farmed.

i would argue give them even more then that jessie... how does 100k segs bout 10 bil creds and something like 5k cp and extra turns sound? it is impossible for new players to catch up technologically given the turn constant... at least this will let them get a start on some commander skills/bas techs.

yea true. basically they need to be given something, but i always worry about too many alts if this happens. thats for a different topic tho

Lol new players will be better off than some of existing lol. :))

And thats awesome- more cannon fodder :D

actually thats the whole point right? more cannon fodder that is. i mean this is a war server.. but it seem u can only compete if you were here from the get go, still care AND do okay as a player. all in all that leaves a little under 30 ppl. maybe... if there is some more action and a little faster growth at the lower end... more new players will stick around to at least make it to the middle rankings.

thats what im hinting towards  :19:

wars server needs MORE PLAYERS

most of the people that join are fresh from wherever they live and have never played main server. surprising, many of these new players have been doing very well. stupidyankeee for example got 500k segs in 2-3 weeks. that could rival Ady at his best  :D

if stupidyankeee had a bigger start, he would be higher than he is now, and have station or planet tech - which leads me to a new problem

its basically pointless for new players to get station tech. it would take them mroe than its worth to get good cloaking. stations are a major part of the game for bonuses and later on enough resources for planets. anyone have any ideas of how we could deal with this?

I have been saying that for awhile. Help the new players with bonuses to accelerate their growth by keeping some good items at only lower encrypt ranks. Also a range for encrypts a person can do. -25% of the max encrypt level u can do, so that people like me, with encrypt rating at almost 2000, i wont be able to do anything less than lvl 1500.

Also, newbies are getting creamed by alts of higher players. I myself was guilty of such until i realize, I am just killing the game. We need new blood because wars is bleeding out. I sell my credit items, seg items to new players just to help them grow. In the end, they get killed by alts of people in the Mid-Tier then give up.

Come on people. You want more people to play?...give them a chance to grow first before u level them with your alts.  :4:

i challenge your alt to a duel with my alt, but i totally agree, maybe 5k cp is a bit much, but without a doubt at least 10 bil creds and at least 50-100k segs

I would be in favor of giving them maybe even more then 5k CP, you cant trade CP so you cant boost your other accounts with it :)

true. same goes with turns. maybe they could get starting techs or commander skills too?

Title: Re: New Players

heres my suggestions:

20 bil creds
15k segs
level 5 stabilizer tech (not much but it would help)
level 1-3 cloaking (yet to be decided)
10 bil workers
5k cp
10k turns (most will be used to extend mothership at a low level)

Cloacking lvl 10
10k CP

rest sounds ok

Maybe add that the AI mentions what to spend the cp on.

lvl 10 is pushing it. a lot of medium lvl player dont even have that. i say warp stab 10 and cloaking 5

Cloacking 10 is lower then the scanners atm :S

it would be better if new players had around level 4-5 cloaking... just so it wouldnt be unfair for most of the other players who workerd so hard to get scanners up high enough to start destroying stations

off on a tangent, why not make voting worth more, not overpower them but just enough so newwer players get a better chance because i remember back when i first started i made most of creds off voting  :6:

also lvl cloak is fair enough, but they need to be taught how to use bases to the best they possibly can otherwise it is just a waste also the ores required too build a base with lvl 5 cloak, also get ride of the trainee fighters and have a bigger range off ships maybe some players can submit some within the creds they start with and the AI maybe even saying to ask other layers what the bast thing to do is as im sure they wont mind, i know i wouldnt mind helping them because new player dont always get everything the AI has to say or just goes and switches it off, how many players have had to direct new players the the wiki/guide page just some more thought that just came to me

huh... good point it has been a while since the voting stuff grew...

What?..theres a wiki on it? how come no one tells me these things.  :4:

boosting the voting system also boosts the older players as well..thus maintaining the gap difference making it a no difference.

well to be fair at all i am one of them meself stopped playing that one becooz there is no way i am going to get any were i there and i frout i get an Station but so as i got it someone took it right out and it cost me all my credits i think somethink like like 1 to 3 bill to do and 2 k truns not sure how much now becoz i have not done one in a long time lol

Title: Re: New Players
Post by: Cameron07 on April 09, 2008, 11:24:45 PM
okay anyone understand that?, but yeah voting would help newer players grow quicker than the bigger players, say change the votes to 500 mil a piece, not crap to a big player but helps the little ones out

my suggestion:

However many turns have been given out per player in the war server..give those to new players from the get go (thus, equal turn playing field)
50 bil creds (you forget how bad new people are at desigining ships...plus, when you're that low, 50B don't go very far)
30k segs
level 10 stabilizer tech (Iirc, this doesn't help that much anyways)
level 7 cloaking
15 bil workers
10k cp

That's just my thoughts on it.

that first suggestion was interesting. id say 1/2 or 1/3 or the turns given out tho

okay, i agree with the cred, the cp i dunno, def not 10% stabalizers... the seg amound is okay, cloaking is pretty steep too

Well as you have all said the War server is "lossing" more people then it gains true alts and other factor such as "not understanding" half of what everything means come on like noobs don't understand most of what we say. That is why I made the National Galatic Union like I thought maybe since i'm on like everyday and online most of the day I could "catch" some of these new players or recently turned active players so they can learn and expand this would help the game in mulitply ways 1) More people play more people to raid 2) more people playing then a portion will usally pay for gold and other "extras" meaning the server can last longer since sir emi get the money to fund it 3)More really people not just alts 4) More people to talk which goes with 4.5) more people to teach they will teach others and making the cycle bigger

they're could be more ups but some downs are the current resource problem would get worest since more people are mining. Though more missions are begging completed so more resource items are begging used.

Also until these extra things like credits, cp, turns, and tech (I personaly think that stations should for later when you have more credtis and workers) (reason for this is because back when I first joined and that was about 10 months ago the cloaking level was only about to 6 or 7 but now its above 10 and I spent lots of resources in stations when i first started this didn't help me it hurt me i could be stronger but no i did what i thought was best and now i'm weak) also another helping point would be an updated guide like just for wars only. Like I have been searching and looking around and remembering what i should or shouldn't have done and i have started to make my own guide though its no way near begging done it would help since the current guides are out of date and the station guide isn't accurent it should talk more about cloaking and scanners and it should add in the planet in the guide and it should have a "what does that mean" section because in my alliance NGU alot of players don't know what segs do, they dont know how to design, they are excited and i have made a recently inactive that loged in but was usally inactive since they didn't understand anything the AI or any guide said I helped and now the person logs in once every few days. :D
