I think wikipedia should take down the ones containing offensive material, I mean, if it's offending people of a certain religion, then of course it should taken down.  0o

Wikipedia?

It's governed by the masses. And the masses, on average, don't really care to much about minorities.

no offense to anyone but u cant say anything anymore without offending someone, so usually in cases of religion mostly only very offenseive things or cursing are removed from wikipedia, and anyone can post anything they want to on wikipedia, it might get edited in 15 mins, but that can be your 15 minutes of fame

First of all, Waylain16, regardless of any point made, your first sentence is really ironic. I mean, just... wow. Like, ironic enough to win some kind of award, or something. I'm just sayin' is all.

Oh, and to Zephyrblade:
Meh, they're more concerned about accuracy and profanity, for the most part. Though, I guess they certainly could do something about it.

It's pity they can be so slow at discovering well-known profanity though...
+100 to ED & the channers.

Accuracy, Lol, I remember looking at the page on brazil for homework once, and underneath climate it said "Frickin' warm foo".  :))

I am sorry that the pictures are there...however, if you read the Disclaimers:

Jurisdiction and legality of content:
Publication of information found in Wikipedia may be in violation of the laws of the country or jurisdiction from where you are viewing this information. The Wikipedia database is stored on a server in the State of Florida in the United States of America, and is maintained in reference to the protections afforded under local and federal law. Laws in your country or jurisdiction may not protect or allow the same kinds of speech or distribution. Wikipedia does not encourage the violation of any laws; and cannot be responsible for any violations of such laws, should you link to this domain or use, reproduce, or republish the information contained herein.

It clearly states that it is hosted in the US, meaning this is completely legal (Freedom of Speech/Freedom of Religion).  I do know that it is forbidden is Islam, however, it IS stored in the US, so this petition will honestly have no effect no matter how many signatures it gets.

Well, if it's in the disclaimer and they don't accept it they shouldn't even be on the site.

In Islam picture of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and other Humans are not allowed. But Wikipedia editors are showing illustrations with face illustrated and face is veiled or white washed. But still they are offensive to Muslims. I request all brothers and sisters to sign this petitions so we can tell Wikipedia to respect the religion and remove the illustrations.

I don't think they're claiming it's illegal, nor that they're trying to take legal action against Wikipedia. It sounds to me that they are just trying to the Wikipedia people's sense of hono(u)r. Which, with over three hundred thousand signatures, they might well do. But... meh.

Honor, honour; valor, valour; color... colour.

This is an act of sick mind because Islam teaches respect of every human and their religion. We all muslim condemn the act if insanity against beloved of Allah...be aware may not Allah take revenge

yeah, i can tell islam is teaching these people to respect every human. i think all those dead at the hand of islam and its suicide bombers might have something to say.

BIENG A MUSLIM I STRONGLY CONDEMS THIS ACT AND THE PERSON RESPOSIBLE FOR THIS HAS TO BE HANGED PUBLISHING THE PICTURES OF THE HOLY PROPHET(PEACE BE UPON HIM) IS AN ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE CONDEMNED AND I DO SO......THESE GUYS DONT LOVE THEIR RELIGEIN, BUT WE MUSLIMS DO LOVE IT. WE ALSO RESPECT RELIGIONS, WHICH INCLUDES YOURS, AND I BELIEVE IN THE INDIPENDENCE OF THE JOURNALISM, BUT THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO DISGRACE THE RELIGION OF OTHERS!!!! KINDLY REMOVE THE PICTURES. MAY ALLAH HELP US ALL AMD HE WILL CERTAINLY PUNISH THESE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PUBLISHED THESE STUPID THING

...Ya, you know what? Calm down, please.

The Internet is the bottom of the barrel. And you just dregged the bottom of the Internet.

Besides, worse things have been said over video game console disagreements.

There are a lot of people in any group who really don't deserve to speak publicly.

They won't get rid of it, no matter how many signatures they get. If they did, hey might as well shut down, because everything on their site will offend sombody. Like the Harry Potter thing, many christians believe it promotes witchcraft and have the book banned, ect. In today's day and age, offending people is a daily ritual, just get use to it and move on.

Well, Islam is a bit more influential than those people.

Really, I guess it all comes down to who you're willing to offend.

O.o more influencial? no. Christianity is THE biggest religion in the world, if theyw ere going to bend, that's who they'd do it for.

Umm, dude. Calm down, you're becoming agitated. ^_^"

Christians are somewhat of a majority, yes. However, christians who want that book banned are not. And, even if they were, that would not guarantee that the book would be banned, though it would be pretty likely.

And not everybody in this sad, sad world of ours is willing to offend everyone not attuned to their particular religion.

Just my two cents.

Lol, I'm not aggitated, I'm laughing at more influencial. And yes, it's better to try not to offend others, but, in todays age, just being BORN can offend someone. Just look at Michael Jackson....that says it all.

Yes, and that's all the more reason to set priorities: Offend who you're willing to offend, and avoid offending the rest.

There are always people in both categories. The petition signers are just trying from the former to the latter, no more no less.
