Title: Fleet module install improvements Post by: SirEmi on August 17, 2007, 02:59:18 PM I have been working for some time now on improving the fleet upgrades, namely making it more realistic and easy to design / upgrade fleets. The idea is to be able to use a blueprint to install several systems of the same type on the ship.
For example, if I have a shield blueprint, it's more realistic to assume that I can install the same shield twice on my ship, improving the aborbtion. The same goes with weapons and the other categories. All the penalties apply and nothing is changed in the way they are calculated, you can install something 10 times with a different blueprint or 10 times in the same, it does not matter. There is a max of 250 modules / upgrade that can be installed with a given module blueprint, however there is no max of modules per ship, you can use another blueprint with the same stats to install another 250 modules and so on. This update is available on the SO Wars server, and it will be available to SO Main in a few days if everything goes well. It has been tested and re-tested to make sure there are no modifications to the way the stats are calculated. God Speed commanders! On other notes, all the ships that had many weapons of the same type had their weapons combined with this update to optimize the database. For example, if you had a swarmer ship with 1000 weapons of the same type that had 1000 records in the database, it has been converted to 5 x 250 weapons of same type, reducing it from 1000 records to only 5 and improving the View / Edit room to load faster and be able to add / remove system faster.
