Title: First impression? Post by: SirEmi on May 26, 2007, 10:44:08 AM So what was your first impression?
Did you get attacked yet or stalked another mothersip? Did you try the new battle system? Is the PvP aspect any good? I tried to mix it up with all the good aspects of PVP I could think of to make it good for the attacker as well as the defender, and make it so you get a sence of the PvP hunt :) As you can see, most of your resources are gained passively, biofarms, secret base, mining facility, so you don't have to worry about that and can just focus on the hunt in the Galaxy. Tried to eliminate grinding and make it interesting, as you never know what to expect in the next sys you jump into. You could jump into an empty sys, or you could jump into a trap crawling with the enemy online armadas :) Any feedback is appreciated :) Title: Re: First impression? Post by: thezerg on May 26, 2007, 11:18:09 AM Well, so far, I've only found 3-4 people and only managed to attack one but I'm sure this will not be a probllem once more people join
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Lammalord on May 26, 2007, 12:35:16 PM well yah i mean how many stars out out there?? tons :p
i already got attacked and nebed, then stalked the guy who attacked me and 0red his only ship!! ha ha die night! :p its intresting, im still getting used to the ranking though for now i get confused and its annoying to switch to see who's online or to see the top rankings.. i geuss thats partly because the galaxy is soo empty right now that i usally dont see anything in the systeum im at.. oh and emi, im glad you liked that suggestion :p seems like a good idea sence it is going to be a PvP more perment version without dday.. Title: Re: First impression? Post by: ~kempy~ on May 26, 2007, 12:59:56 PM awww thought there wasnt gonna be nebs BS
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: FTP on May 26, 2007, 01:52:53 PM Yeah 1000 stars wirth 124 registered players from which not yet everyone bought something is abit few trying to find a single fish in the entire ocean :12:
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Asria on May 26, 2007, 02:01:41 PM It's fun so far. :3
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: drakken on May 26, 2007, 02:48:36 PM its cool so far...i think we should be able to land on planets when we are offline, make it cost like 20 turns to land, 10 to launch..5 turns to scan a planet and 5 to attack if theres someone there. and also orbital gun platforms that extend only so far from a base.like in same quad...so theres system fleets gets first attacks, then the orbital gun platforms then the base...you keep the platforms in same quad as base, so people have to go through them to reach the base.the system fleets and platforms could work together in defense of planets and people landed on planets. makes it harder to kill those way to freaking expensive stations and gives me more things to kill on my way to kill someones base. the attack system is cool...leveling is annoying..maybe ill get over that when i get more used to the new game play. anyone else think landing on planets would be cool?
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Cameron07 on May 26, 2007, 02:52:50 PM seems real cool.. found a couple people.. couldnt manage to attack either one.. it would be cool if you should scan nearby planets.. like maybe the same quad for ships or something.. and maybe make it a little easier to get turns since it takes so many to find and attack someone.. and i think the whole planets thing drakken just mentioned sounds pretty cool
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: ~kempy~ on May 26, 2007, 03:03:25 PM personally i think the turn should stay as they are basicly because when the server gets bigger and more people it wont be like this no plus the fact this is a persistent galaxy so time and turns doesnt really matter
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Cameron07 on May 26, 2007, 04:59:44 PM have a few questions.. it says i have 100,000 exp on my commander... but im still at lvl 0.. and i won come cp from voting but i cant use them on anything.. the little plus signs you click you spend your commander points on arent there
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: thezerg on May 26, 2007, 05:07:00 PM you need to use the hologram training to lvl up. but just 1 turn
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: ~kempy~ on May 26, 2007, 05:34:06 PM yes thats right your exp gets added to you but you dont level up till you get a little more exp by sending turns or creds and stuff
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Cameron07 on May 27, 2007, 03:15:15 PM i do wish that you could get counters on people even if their attacks failed.. i got attacked.. they couldnt hurt anything.. but i couldnt attack back
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: djjcuk on May 27, 2007, 04:43:01 PM Its pretty cool so far but how will i find time to play both SO and SO Wars? :P :)) nice job emi! respeckta! :19:

Attack signatures are a very powerfull thing to have :) You can stalk and hit them when they're not looking. I like it. Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Borg! on May 27, 2007, 07:04:45 PM im loving it reminds me of an updated round 1
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: SirEmi on May 27, 2007, 07:07:12 PM im loving it reminds me of an updated round 1 Exactly, I'm glad we have someone here who remembers :) Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Borg! on May 27, 2007, 07:11:22 PM B-) good times
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: djjcuk on May 29, 2007, 09:00:41 AM What i'm not keen on is you only have segments missions and workers cost 2 creds each :P
Respeckta :19: Title: Re: First impression? Post by: thezerg on May 29, 2007, 09:35:13 AM It's to keep the server on a slow growth because it goes on forever
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Drackin on June 03, 2007, 07:35:59 PM im loveing it emi. great job! we do need more poeple to hit though.. gets annoying when everyone you see has a 95% chance of escape. i dont really like the 2 credits per worker thing cause you need alot of segs to keep alot of workers anyway so theres no point in buying more than you can support. but all in all its great.
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Gunfighter Frank on June 07, 2007, 05:47:41 PM E I love it. maybe would get the ships to be used on the regular server to help out on the war server so folks can buy them as well. make it a new tech. and the idea of your stations makeing products would be good as well. But I like this so far. is very good and more old school.
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: davey boy on June 07, 2007, 06:01:28 PM i like the fact that it only takes 5 turns instead of 15 to do events congrats on a great update :)
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Silverthorne on June 08, 2007, 01:53:33 AM I'm thinking of getting a gold account on the SO WAR server but only if I am able to clone ships from the original SO server, just so I don't have to redesign all my ships again.
I assume it isn't available - I tried to clone a design I have on my WAR account but it didn't show. But I like it and will most likely be spending time on the WAR account(as soon as I can get into an alliance) :wounded1: Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Gunfighter Frank on June 08, 2007, 02:03:24 PM many of the ships from the orginal server are avalible, the better more used ones
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: craigie09090 on June 08, 2007, 04:38:30 PM I think the SO WARS server is great so far
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: tnt2002 on June 10, 2007, 03:18:42 PM first time, first day, first hour ^_^
sofar i like this very much. gonna hang around somewhat longer to see if it stays as good as it is in the first hour :D Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Chrys on June 24, 2007, 01:01:36 AM I lurve this game so far.... just wondering though if there are plans to expand the universe by afew more grids. With the growing amount of players, Good systems with 4~5 asteroid belts have been more or less already marked by the more established players. Is it possible for stars not colonized by players to have a random chance to change after awhile...like after a week or so.. and reshuffling the asteroids?..eg. white dwarfs changing to red giants....etc... or supernovas destroying completely the star... but a new star reborns within the same system.
This would keep the long timers from getting too much of an edge having mapped the universe and keeping the good systems. I think this would give newer players a chance as well as keeping it fresh. Keep up the good work! Title: Re: First impression? Yes it's possible and that a very good idea, the mined out or nearly mined or unused systems to be able to suddently implode and develope a new rich / normal / random evironement :) Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Tzarkoth on July 01, 2007, 02:55:33 AM Heyas. I don't like the WARP mechanic. It's the war server and its almost impossible to attack anyone. The war server is in actual fact more PvE than PvP imo. Either the mechanic needs to be adjusted or the Warp Disrupter % increased. Also bases are too easily killed ... Even with billions of credits, 1000's of turns and CP invested in tech, if anyone with a Gold account wants to kill them they can. Apart from that still having fun. Cheers Tzar Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Cameron07 on July 01, 2007, 03:18:27 AM well ya.. bases are killed easy.. its not really only the people with gold accounts though... i designed my own ships to kill bases with
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Tzarkoth on July 01, 2007, 01:37:17 PM I meant anyone with 20Billion can kill bases.
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: lostedchylde on July 01, 2007, 03:29:26 PM thats why you need to research your station defences/offences. and if you want to attak more people try researching your warp disruptors.
:spider2: Title: Re: First impression? Post by: Tzarkoth on July 10, 2007, 10:39:00 PM You read my first comment right. I already stated that after investing alot in research the improvements are non existant.
Title: Re: First impression? Post by: SlayerX on July 15, 2007, 07:12:22 PM meh only tech you need to investe in
are either cloak or subspace scanners and maby missles nothing else will save your bases. all you need is 1 ship that has enough hp to take the stations attack then you need to make 9 ships that stay below the leadship and do enough attack to kill a station. so in short just keep stacking Cloak and no 1 will ever find your bases. unless your more of a fighting type then you invest in scanners and start searching. and seeing this round will gone on forever maby the tech should offer more then they do now. even if you were to rech up to 70% absorb you could have gotten 3lvl of extra cloak. just have to look at it any base on a good site can make 5bil+ a day more if you upgrade the mining tech. the big cash flow makes the station upgrades useless since the ships are growing faster in power then you can rech techs. thats how i see it but im still enjoying Wars server its a cat and mouse game some people think there hunting you all they dont understand your growing in secret. |
