i dont know who this guy is, or why emi likes him so much, but he has to go.. i have major problems with him, and i havent even talked with him!

this guy comes  in here, somehow gets mod powers to just about every single topic.. and then starts prancing around acting like the god of spaceo and that he know so much.. hes insulted my friends (wolfwood) and locked his poll, and when people complained about it he didnt even get a warning or expelled from mod powers like it states in the rules to becoming a moderator.. no he got supported by emi..

and now this kid is lieing to players in chat saying hell donate money to anyone who talks! i have quite a few people that i know who has talked about this.. whats going on emi, why are you letting this kid boss you around? take over your game? what! is he paying you or something..

 i dont like someone like him who comes in when noone knows him, sets up his throne and acts like the god of spaceo, and sence emi isnt acting on this i will, and i want the sopport of Space Odyssey to get rid of this pest..

U got my support on it. Ive never heard of him b4 though he states hes and old SO player. Doesnt help much cosidering all the new updates neways. 99% of the active ppl here wouldve done a better job then he would, cause they would actually have done something good. Im still to see Snipedragon do anything hes supposed to do...

Right i do have a problem with Snipedragon,

One he shouldnt be advertising in chat that he will donate to anyone who types to him as that gives new young players (who cant donate) false hope.
 
Two locking other players posts just because they dont agree with him on certain matters shouldnt be allowed even if he is a MOD

And

Three As being a MOD he shouldnt be allowed to get away with being rude to others and the excuse being he's new and hasnt read the rules yet (why make him MOD if he's agreed to something u know he hasnt read)

Those reason alone should tell you somethings wrong the Mod status was set in my veiw to avoid abuse of SO yet he has clearly broke more than one rule already.

I wont say anything bad about snipe or any other player in Space Odyssey, but cant keep quiet on this, Sir emi there has been so much bickering and argueing over donations in YOUR forum, it isnt right that someone you trust so much with the game, who you are even giving access to messing with the games code, although this indeed hopefully will better our gameplay ( which i cant see it getting much better but we shall see ) and given mod status in just about every part of the forum ...

My problem is not with the powers you have bestowed upon this brand new player to the game, whether he be a friend or a trusted family member or just someone you were told was good, I personally would never allow my business to be run by someone who obviously is not qualified to do the job, my business would go under in an instant if i did that... by qualified i mean a national recognized qualification...

Far be it for me to put down snipe who seems a nice guy to talk to unless you rub him up the wrong way, ( refer to wolfwood's posts which i believe you asked him to put there ) I understand that obviously there was something there snipe didnt like but still your taking away our forum and right to an opinion....

The ToS was broken and nothing done about this, Monkey d luffy and lammalord were both removed as mods when there was no set down rules, snipe however seems immune to the same rules which are set down, and not reading them is no excuse or reason for him to act in the manner he did...

The donations please theres been enough rubbish posted in the forum about donations are bad, or they help the game or people are going to leave if the donations continue, to me I really dont care about whether donations stay or go but having one of your moderators offering money or creds to people in chat god knows how many nights running is getting abit much, i'm sure theres some ToS rule for giving creds so others can attack...

There are some impressionable youngsters on this site, mostly below 20 and the offer of money is very tempting for them, I had one member in my msn today whose mom was asking me not to let some person give money to my son, sorry but that did it for me, snipe if you can afford so much spend it yourself, leave the kids alone to play the game, or at least ask parents first if its ok to give them money...

Its all I have to say about this its not right how you behave with players and show off with money  when your supposed to be an ambassodor for this game, I hope you can refrain from using your wallet as a means to gain friends in game

I have nothing against snipe but when he comes in out of nowhere and acts superior it is obviously going to ruffle feathers. From the biggining his post were arrogant and condecending. And he has now made the leap into insulting. Not reading the mod rules is no excuse.

I think it should go back to monkey and lamma as mods. There weren't any problems in the forum when they were mods. Also i think that nich would make a good mod. They are in this forum so much that they know what should and shouldn't be there. It is great that there are so many people interested in being mods but there are just too many.

These are just my opinions don't anybody take this personally.

Fine, dont like me? I apologized to Duo over my post, and he accepted the apology.  Ive NEVER said that I am an Old SO player, however I did start a little after the beginning of the last round.  #2 I didnt lock his post, Moderator logs show that, I locked his poll, and then shortly after, I unlocked it.  #3 I dont have access to the code, nor do I want it, I code completely from scratch, all Emi gives me is the appropriate database tables, and anything else I may need to complete my task.  The ONLY thing I have done is lock Duo's poll, then unlocked it.  I had NOT read the Moderator TOS at that time, however now I have, and will not break the rules again.  This brings up a problem though, you guys never talk to me, you just go and report me, if you were to talk to me, I would fix the problem, but NOOO, you have to report me.  If you want me to leave, tell me, dont go and make me Emi's problem.  I leave on my own if thats what you want.........

Also, ive never offered to give any one money, I simply said that for christmas, I may go down the list of people ranked close to me, and donate 3-5 dollars for each of them, just for christmas.  I also told blakranger that I would buy him a membership, but I am not going to do that now (friend already bought it for him).  So stop accussing me of things I didnt do.

I have nothing against you and i doubt many others have, just the way you conduct yourself, which most of the time is very good, I have never had a problem and doubt we ever will...

However I like a lot of other people were in chat when you stated whoever says something or other apws and some numbers first will get a donation, then you put in chat that you were going to donate in chat to anyone who talks to you its not a case of untruths just what you wrote and it had a lot of people jumping...

Other than that noone and i mean noone in space odyssey can dispute how good or bad you are with code or emis database tables, basically until everyone sees your work noone can comment...

Please dont take it as a bashing just if you can try not to promise things you may or may not deliver, like i said a lot in here are kids and someone throwing money around gives off a bad impression

Seriously, Emi you SERIOUSLY need to do something about Snipe Dragon. I made this comment:

I made this comment after I informed SnipeDragon that the excuse of "I didn't know" and "I hadn't read the rules" was a pathetic, yes p-a-t-h-e-t-i-c excuse.

As SnipeDragon's response, he muted me saying I insulted him, however a number of other commanders were witness to everything and I have no doubt that they will confirm that I still have yet to insult SnipeDragon

You go ahead and post the ENTIRE conversation into this forum, had it not been for you guys making such a big deal out of me OFFERING to donate to the players around me in the rankings come christmas, out of pure kindness, than I would not have gone this far.

You all say Snipe is bad, but even if his "I haven't read the new rules yet" seems pathetic at least it is reasonable.  Driving people mad by the way is smee's job, and not anyone elses :)).  And even if he is a mod, Snipes only 17 (or so people are saying) and doesn't deserve to be driven so mad that he can't have fun on an online game...put yourself in his shoes...you might be driven so mad as to quit SO for good hating the whole community...and that is not a good image when friends ask him about how SO is...

After listening to this debate...(and i wish i had admin powers cause then rulings would be easier) i'd say lay off a little...he didn't read the new mod ToS at the time, unlocked the poll (so it's not much of an issue now considering over 20 commanders voted) and while you say he is abusing his power...your harrassing him about it so much that he has gone from slightly friendly with some people to either neutral or enemy, and that does not make a fun community for that player.

And about the whole donation thing...if Snipe wants to give out a christmas present through SO that's his problem and shouldn't concern you Duo...if you think your a good commander then $3-5 donation for each player around him shouldn't bother you that much.  :4:

I know now everyone here is going to give me a hard time cause i'm sticking up for Snipe, whether he wants me to or not, but i've listend to many debates and this one seems to weighted.  I know that i'm newer than most people here, but Snipe joined a little after the start of last round (so he says) and i started halfway thorugh the last round so i joined close to when he joined, so i think i now what i'm saying when i say your harrassing a new player just because he has more rights than you do as a moderator Duo.

And you can say whatever you want...but i just want to say...that if i were snipe i would leave SO...or if i didn't i would give people a hard time until i was forced to leave, cause no one deserves this kind of harrassment, especially not with SAT's nearing...

You seem to take everything that you dont agree with or if its someone you dont like and turn it into an attack or insult on your person, well you know what, I wont say you are acting like a baby or anything of the sort (its an insult to babies) as so many people have already said.

I think that it is time to move on now. This started out as complaints against snipe but has moved to slamming him. These aren't even observations anymore but are now insults. I don't mean to sound like snipe here but that is what they are. So let's not give him the pleasure of saying he was right about beeing insukted and move on.

The Moderator ToS were not created when I joined the Moderator team, I did not know about them until after 'I insulted' Duo.

If me calling Duo a baby is an insult to him, then you calling me a baby is an insult to me, understand?  Everyone got mad at me calling him a baby, and now all of you call me one and think its ok?

I muted the people that either insulted, or used language, those are the only two kinds of people that I muted.

Lammalord, you dont even know me, so until you actually talk to me yourself, and not take someone elses word for everything.  Then you have NO right to tell me how to conduct myself.  All that I did yesterday was enforce two simple rules, rules that you refused to accept.

Everyone got mad at him for calling Duo a baby, and then they called him a baby, so even if it is "contradicting" he at least has a point and a right...

If he gets a hard time for calling someone a baby, then when someone gives him a hard time by someone calling him a baby, he has a right to mute them....

Ok, I'm ending a few of these arguements once and for all, because Monkey D. Luffy is incredibly angry, starting with the one I find most insulting, which is from snipedragon.


Snipedragon, ignorence of the rules is NO EXCUSE, just like ignorence of a law is no excuse. When I lost my moderator position, the moderator rules DIDN"T EVEN EXIST, and my crime was minor compared to yours, which are as follows (and I have seen all evidence against you): Insulting another moderator/player, talking about donations, and abusing moderator power in chat. You cannot claim ignorence for the second crime and third crimes, because by then you HAD read the rules. And Snipe, insulting someone is using foul language at them, or something highly offensive. Saying someone is a noob or baby, is in no way, shape or form an insult, because anyone who is seriously offended by that is definitely under 12 years old, and will take EVERYTHING as an insult. Common sense must be used when considering action (this goes to ALL moderators out there, not just snipe). And on your you guys didn't have to report me post,yes, we did, because that's how it works, you violate ToS or MToS (Moderator Terms of service), you are reported to an active admin, which is only Sir Emi right now.

So Snipe, while you may be a great guy, you have taken a lot of this too far, and I still expect you to be punished in some form for your crimes, which were worse then both lammalord's and my crimes, which resulted in both of us losing moderator status, of which, to my knowledge, he has not recieved back even though he accepted the new terms for being a moderator.

Next on the list:


Remfer, Snipe may only be 17, but so am I, and I get hell from everyone else all the time, over everything and anything. It's no excuse. And He didn't read the rules, tough, as I stated before, both lamma and I were punished before the rules existed, so we had no way of knowing we were in violation of them. Breaking a rule is breaking a rule, simple as that. Doesn't matter if you knew the rule or not. But I am glad that you posted pointing out things in his posts, and you are right, no one deserves to be treated that way, I should know, I deal/delt with all the time.

Next item:


Snipe, not to be rude here, but there is no better way to say this: just shut up. Just because you were insulted and critized greatly means NOTHING. I've dealt with worse and never acted like you are, you may be 17, but right now, your acting like my 8 year old sister. Suck it up, and quit getting mad over every little thing that is said to you, seriously, it's not worth it.

Snipe has done some of his job (though I admit, not much), and it is understandable, he is on about as much as Sir Emi, and nearly twice as much as Admin. Thanks for contributing though.

Final thoughts:

Snipe, I'm glad your helping the game, honestly I am, and that you're a moderatr on another forum, but SO isn't like other forums, and it's obvious you aren't cut out for the job of moderator on the forum here. To be a mod here is more then just slapping every wrongdoer in the jail for 10 years when the crime doesn't even need a fine. It's a job where you have to be willing to sacrifice your dignity and time, take abuse and merely smile and gladly help. We're just like customer service in a store, you're not allowed to lash out the way you did at the players in the chat. The insult against duo, and the locking of his poll were excuseable, this however, is not. And even if you had intentions of donating to a few people around you for christmas, you are not allowed to broadcast that in chat as a moderator, because we are not allowed to talk about donations, it's in the rules for moderators, which, once again, you had read at the time you broke that rule(which talking about donations is why lamma and I were removed from our position as moderator). So I'm glad your intentions were good, but good intentions don't make an action right.

Everyone else: stop smashing him, if you have something to say, make sure you post your reasons for saying it with it. If you continue to do nothing but smash Snipe I WILL delete this thread and anymore threads involving the same incident. I for one have had it with this childish behaviour from ALL of you. I don't care your age, you should know better by now then to act like this. You posted about him breaking the rules, that was fine. You made a structure arguement to support your claims, and that was fine too. But then you went and started not only insulting him, but telling him he should leave, and a lot more. You claim it's people like him that cause people to quit, and yes, you're right, people who act the way he did do cause some player's to leave, but more players leave because of the way you guys acted back there. It will NOT be tolerated at all. If I see it, you're done, simple as that. I will report you immediately to Sir Emi, or any other admin should he appoint one, moderator or normal player. THIS is your warning, the only one you will get. If you behave like a child, expect to be treated like one. Simple as that.

I hope I have made myself clear. The behavior you all have expected is 100% unacceptable, and many of you are grown men. However, I must commend the following commanders for behaving properly and respectively: Chicpea, TheDarkness, Smee, and Silverthorne. You guys are what keeps me writing my stories, as well as here moderating and playing SO, seriously. I'd have quit long ago if it wasn't for the likes of you guys (and girl). It seems Snipedragon want to make terror-forum 0o There was some other space game, where some guy like Snipedragon got admin. People was scared to write anything, because some one wrong word = ban :))
He hated everyone, and everyone hated him. Everyone got more, and more pissed.
Than he locked forum, so only manually acepted players could join forum. However he didnt know, that e-mail notifications didnt work, so noone could register. Those who susrvived ridiculous bans just quit. And he left alone with some one mod :P

Its just my opinion on what i saw on different forum, but we can still avoid it. I hope.

nice story there uber. and remfer, some of your posts were a little bashy, not all or even most, just a few here and there. Snipe is just doing what all angry/powertriping people tend to do: blaming everyone but themselves for everything. He has yet to see that his actions from before and continuing actions are the reason the problem is persisting.

Monkey and Remfer is right, too many ppl have been bashing him. I for one bashed him with short sentences without really having experienced whats been happening myself, and im sorry for that. Though he mightve deserved some of the bashing he got, he didnt deserve all of it. As this is a game where the forum and the game is tightly connected, and also where some of the better and active guys in game also are forum moderators, this isnt like other forums. And Snipe might be experienced with normal forums and games where players and game mods are 2 totaly different things, but here theyr more or less the same. Snipe probably did what he thought was right, but i think he needs some help to adapt to THIS forum and THIS game as its changed a lot since his days here, and though ppl have wars n stuff in game, were still like one big
(un)happy family, at least in the forums.

Thirdly, I am not here to "bash" Snipe. He has dug his own grave in CLEARLY abusing his powers

Fourthly (is there such a word? Oh well, im using it): Monkey, calling someone a baby, is an insult. It may not be extremely offensive or harsh but it insults ones character.

In the Navy, if you called your commanding officer a baby in front of other sailors who work under him, it undermines his authority and causes that commanding officer to lose respect. If that commanding officer loses respect then the people who work for him, won't listen to him. If he has something to put out that will save lives, and no-one listens to him, then people die. All from someone calling someone else a baby.

Now, Yes I know this is a game, but in real life, i live by that and stand by it. It is why I do not tolerate insults of any sort. If you have a problem with me taking offense to insults, then go on your merry little way.


Now as a closer to this from my standpoint. He broke the TOS by calling me a baby. Fine, he didnt read the rules . . . Whatever . . Thats his one time to use the "I dont know" excuse. What about him locking the poll just because of personal opinion and dislike for me? Thats against the TOS that he at that time had finally read. Ok, fine, the TOS isnt clear enough but now he knows that he should watch what he does and make sure not to abuse his powers. Blam, goes on the chat right when he gets his chat mod privileges and starts muting people for stating facts that he cant handle.


I still believe that reguardless of how helpful snipedragon can be behind the scenes, he is unreliable and untrustworthy to work on anything.

If he had never opened his mouth and shoved his foot in it, things woulda been fine and would have ran smoothly, should he of actually done what he has said he can do but as of yet I have yet to see him to anything of value to this game and in fact has done more harm to the game then good.

Secondly nicholas, this isn't the navy, or the army. you can take beign called a baby an insult if you wish, but it can't be taken as a serious offense, if one at all really. If we muted anyone who made any form of an insult period you might as well mute everyone in SO, because they're going to insult someone in some minor way eventually.

But you are correct in everything else, snipe did dig his own grave, and you haven't done much bashing (you did a little, but not much), and he hasn't done much for the game yet. Maybe tha will change in the future, who knows.

Monkey, let me just tell you what happened:
1. Duo posts about wanting his ships back after a killer fleet killed them, says he needs 20 votes (I didnt know at the time)
2. I voted 'No, Dont give them back' and then commented on it telling him to stop being such a whining baby.
3. People started jumping down my throat for calling him a baby.
4. I apologize, and he accepts apology (im still waiting for whatever punishment he said he was going to give me :p )
5. I get Chat Moderator, and someone (dont remember who) brought in the discussion about me saying ill donate for people, and said its all wrong.
6. I told them I was just trying to be a nice guy, and they jumped down my throat again, calling ME a baby this time.
7. I started muting those that called me that (If everyone makes a big deal out of me calling someone a baby, why doesnt everyone make a big deal about them calling me a baby?)
8. Then I start muting people who use language.
9. I muted Chicpea by accident (I was angry, you guys wouldnt give me a break)
10. I muted Spammers
11. You guys continue jumping down my throat (some of you stoped, and I thank the ones that did/apologize to you that did stop)
12.  I logged off.


There, that is a summary of all the events leading up to why everyone (well, not everyone) hates me.

You clearly state Duo in your post . . . . which is me . . .So if that wasnt directed at me . . who the hell is using my name?

I know what happened, though you left out your locking duo's thread, and once again snipe, I'm on your side, they should not be bashing you, or even acting like this towards you. Yes, you screwed up, yes, you went overboard with you power, yes, you were in the wrong, but you admitted to it and accepted any punishment you recieve for your actions. Therefore there is NO NEED for this arguement to continue, snipe has said "Hey, I messed up, not happening again, I'll accept my punishment should I recieve it" (not in this exact phrasing, I'm para phrasing for clarity) It's up to Sir Emi if Snipe gets any further repremand on the forum. If you want to punish snipe yourself, atttack him in game, don't flame (aka bash) him on the forum.

How many times have we made mistakes in this game? I know i made a few woopers myself, and I'm sure the rest of you have made some too. He messed up, he realizes it, and he's willling to accept his punishment should it come. I say that's all we need. He apologized for his mistakes and worked to correct them, so cut him some slack, and lay off, alright? I'd hate to have to start using my moderator powers in here to get you guys to behave, but I will.

muteing for insults is wrong, this is a war game everyone fights, insults will happen dosnt mean mute them beacuse of it.. it will happen and its not in the rules that you cant insult them...

Thread Locked. Reason: Nothing more to be contributed, what needs to be said has been said, the rest is merely repeating each other and continuing to bash snipe. What's done is done, get over it, it's time to move on guys.

Lamma: Emi already said that he wasn't going to punish Snipe, he said that elsewhere, and while snipe did abuse his power a little on chat, i believe emi took him off being a moderator there, because I asked who the chat mods were right now during it's testing and only Chicpea and TheDarkness were mentioned. If not, oh well.

And we don't need to hear Emi's word on this at all, Snipedragon's punishment is between Sir Emi and Snipedragon, we're not involved. Simple as that.

As for Snipedragon never earning any respect, he's already earned mine by admitting his faults and accepting the punishment he recieves.
