Forum - Space Odyssey MMORPG - a massive free online space game

Space Odyssey WARS will undergo major changes including a full reset of the server.

Changes in the new version of SO WARS:

- Alien invasion, Incursion and Interactive encounters will be introduced, with rewards of resource items, turns, CP but not credits.
- the secret base will no longer be available, the credits will only come from space structures and missions.
- the Galaxy will contain 3x more stars, 30 stars per quadrant.
- Hidden encounters / probing / Alien commanders will be available with rewards consisting of galaxy resources.
- Commander hologram training program will be disabled
- Commander no longer receive experience each day, the exp will come from missions / items.
- Reavers are dropping salvage

ETA for this change is end of November 2009.

Glad to see this is actually happening now, but no SAB??? That kinda kills the game somewhat, at least that's what i think, stations are a waste of time due to the fact they are too easy to kill, you don't get credits for PvP, just segs...at least in my experience, and planets...well, you can't even think about supporting one of those without months (around 6+ i think) of playing, and that was WITH the SAB...so unless the missions/items etc start giving super-payouts, then i don't see anyone getting anywhere for a good year or 5 after the reset B-)

thats the point. its supposed to be slow. and if its slow then there will be more pvp cause every1 is close in power

I would also like to point out that when we first get reset stations are gonna be hard to kill.

yea. slower growth will make it take alot longer to max out, without the sab i think it may not be possible.

like the way it looks, and aliens sounds good to me.

The aliens could make it more interesting and its not like you have to do them lol.

meh i say reduce the payout for donating as well

i assume that the rates will be reset and then grow as people grow. with slower growth it will take a long time for donating to be that effective

I plan to give it a go again.  It will be interesting to see how things go.

grr roy, you made me log onto wars to check..

i really wish someone would ban roy... but the reset it good.. some good things have changed idk about everything yet.. we will have to see.. sucks to lose everything you worked for though

It does suck to lose everything but hopefully this time it won't have such huge gaps in power and people can have some fun.

In the SO Wars server announcement area there is this message for a few days now:

" Warning! Recent astronomical data have confirmed that the universe is shrinking and will disappear.
All commanders are urged to prepare, the Universe will undergo another Big Bang.
It is estimated the size of the Universe will triple and more features will be available.
Estimated time until Big Bang: 15 h 54 m 49 s @ 2009-12-01 12:00:00 EST   Please check out the details here."

the reset / upgrade is scheduled at 2009-12-01 12:00:00 EST
