Title: Another Ship Design, need opinions.
Post by: PwnPirate on August 18, 2006, 10:08:19 PM
Hey, I'm fairly new to Space Odyssey and I still don't know most of the catches yet but know I most of the basics. So I attempted to design a ship based on little things I gathered here and there in this forum. It would be very appreciated if you could throw some tips my way to put me on the right track.  :sweat
*The values for accuracy/abs/hp have already been calculated subtracting the amount for every system added*

System           | Weight   |Energy           |Accuracy |ABS |Hp              |Attack         |Defence |
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Powercore       | 600,013   |240,000,000   |             |       |                  |                 |            |
Computer (X3) | 106,698   |30,001,998     | 29%      |       |                  |                 |            |
Shield(X3)       | 23,248     |3,000,297      |             |52% |                  |                 |            |
Special           | 83,868     |143,997,690   |             |       | 51,583,908  |                 |            |
Weapon          | 539,690    |63,000,006    | 51%      |       |                  | 70,769,200 |            |
Total              | 1,400,013 |240,000,000   | 80%      |52% | 51,583,908  | 70,769,200 |            |

Two of these ships in seperate fleets can do missions with success and no losses, but otherwise I haven't tested it in battle.

Edit: I got rid of the five weapons and the specials and put all the excess energy on the weapon and health, it definitely helped alot, however with the powercore I guess I'm going to have to do that on the next ship.

eh few quick things, powercore should have 1.3999 mil weight atleast in a ship this big adn evrythign else should be 8 weight basically, also use 1 weapon adn 1 specail.

I keep hearing different powercore stats from people, some say 90% and some say 40% so I just put it around 50-60% >_>. I'm not sure which is right though.  Thanks alot for the help though

90% is right, all the weigh but 8 per other system should be in powercore for the cheapest and most efficient design.

I have a question about the shielding and the defence. Is the shield applied to an attack first or is the Defence applied first and then shielding?

shielding comes first, but dont even bother with defense unless you are creating a swarmer

Alright then I'll put all the defence into hp, thanks for the help!

Well, I use some defense.  My reasoning: for equal power, defense will be more useful.  However, for equal cost, hp is far more useful.  I suppose I'm just paranoid about missions  :sweat

eh defense does add same amount of power as hp though i think (per point) so it wont actually be more helpful, just ur ships will be less powerful.

All weight except for the minimum you use for components should go straight to powercore.

The weights I suggest are:

9 Computer
9 Shield
6 Special
8 Weapon

therefore, if you have 10,000,000 space and one of each component, you'd put 9,999,968 weight into your powercore and the rest into your components.

defense does not add power to a ship.  thus if you want your ships to be less power full and still have benifits defense is an option. however, swarm ships benifit more from defense than single super ships.  since defense is multiplied by the number of ships in a fleet it can add up rapidly and defense goes up with crew level and HP does not.

Yes, but it initially costs 5 times as much for what you get. So keep that in mind.

Wait, are you sure defense doesn't add power? I was pretty sure it did, just a lot less then HP.

Wait so I still keep about 3 computers and 3 shields right? And if so, is the weight distributed evenly or are each system 9 weight?

Ya, three shields and computers seems about right.

Anyways, all your space should go to your Powercore except for this much space per system.

The weights I suggest are:

9 Computer
9 Shield
6 Special
8 Weapon

Thanks for the help but what I meant was are the 3 computers each 9 weight or 3 weight?

They each get 9 weight for a total of 27 weight all together.

Ok... I totally disagree with this part Chronos... this is my opinion....
Shield: 8
Computer: 8
Special: 8
Weapon: 1
And they ALL work a treat.. lol  :P

... My values are based on math. Excluding for the shield value (which should be 8), they are the best weights. I found them by calculating how much cost each weight cut and then comparing that to the same value if I had first converted it to energy.
