I got this on one of the new Ancient Commander missions, first I lured the aliens to me, then I tried to all out attack, and that failed but it gave me the option to try the second option - surrounding and surprise attacking

I won the battle killing like 70% or so but it didn't give me anything except the experience from the combat.
