 10  i built a space station and a mining facility today. im sorry i wasted my turns mining the resources, my command points and turns researching the tech required to build the things. i am however pleased about one thing, i waited until command points and credits are not a factor in the game anymore. because if i would have built them in the beginning of the round i probably would have quit.. its way to expensive to build these things. whats the point of them again?  credits produced would take months to replace the ones spent.  come on make these things worth something, or make the mining facility have the ability to make market items such as turn items, or turn items out of the resources gathered. im specially mad it takes 600 turns to research fighters and missiles. dont make any sense, i can design a ship that costs max creds for no cost at all until i buy it....but i have to spend 600 turns and credits  and freaking command points to be able to buy a freaking ship that costs 10 freaking creds. 11   idea for space stations..good..space stations as they are now....freaking dumb nono   im going to  drunk and wait for everyone else to agree with me .

yep i agree i was starting to build a space station used up some turns creds and command points thought i could then build it but no i was still not high enough lv so it wanted over a 1000 turns again so i scrappeds the idea all togeather

 Already been there and know what you mean (Space Odyssey Info Terminal / Updates / Re: Galaxy Combat / Structures / Loot),

from where i am with my station, its equipt with:

Station Armor
Station AAF Fighters
Station Missiles
Cybertronic Computer
Shield Generator
Structural Integrity Scanner

to get a defensible station i need to get:

another Structural Integrity Scanner (200CP, 250turns and 10bil credits)
2x Nanobot Maintenance Bay Tracking (150CP, 150turns and 10bil credits for the first one)
Tracking / ECM Dampener (245CP, 245turns and 17.5bil credits)
Subspace Cloaking (200CP, 300turns and 30bil credits)

then upgrade all of them before buying any fighters or missiles,

thats just the way it is. Ive found more uses for the CP, turns and credits so far. Not saying i wont try the station and mining again, but not whilst i get a better return elsewhere.

Space stations are smelly... nice try at improving the game emi but this hasnt worked  16

i have two stations now. still no real reason to have them. its  a total waste of cp and turns. the creds dont really matter.

It was and still is a great idea to put in space stations...its just that later on in the round they are useless to everyone, they give less per week than the votes per day now  Opps

A solution would be to make them cost less CP and Turns, and produce more credits.

Although if you bring out an war/pirate server without missions and stuff they space stations could become a real choke point in the galaxy and a great income.

To be honest guys... the space stations are sooo bad... they take up sooo many cp and credits... especially earlier on... and think about it... the only people who can invest in them are the top players who have loads of power because they will have loads of creds and cp.... but past the top 200 (rough guess) commanders lower than that have no use of them...  16 i think they should possibly be removed... or... as suggested...lower the amount of cp and creds needed for them...  19

Not to forget the fact that you also have to return to your base to resupply system fleets(thanks spayed)
I had a base. It was a lovely base.  2
but the amount of turns and CP needed to keep a base, even in the top 30 ranks, makes it not worthwhile. I can use mining items to gather materials cheaper than the cost of a base and the cost involved to defend it
