Ken - because your basically there already, Ill post some data.
Optimal weights are;
Shields and Weapon - 8 Computers and Special - 9
The following table is the energy increases required to go below size 10.
Miniturization Costs in Energy
Size Comp Shield 9 333 133 8 1333 400 7 2000 933 6 3333 2000 5 6000 4133 4 11333 8400 3 22000 16933 2 43333 34000 1 86000 68133
Comp applies to special as well, Shield applies to weapons as well.
So if you want to make a smaller component, use this table to determine how much extra energy is needed. For example if I had a size 8 shield and wanted to make it size 4, then the energy cost would be 8,400 (for size 4) - 400 (for size 8) = 8,000 more energy.

lol. NO!
Around 7 people saw the one I posted yesterday. Ask around.
Yours determined the Energy Requirements and weight mine has nothing to do with that. What I added tells you what ASB a ship will get with any combination of shields.

Also if you don't think mine work please show some evidence other then saying No Lol. I've test my formula with a half dozen different shield combos each component adds the amount my formula says it should. If my calculations are wrong please show me and I will remove it from my Topic.
Edited since I found out why you removed the posts.

1*50 2*40 2*35
Easy my calcs say that it should be 81.041666666666666666666666666653 rounded up to 82% but since shields are caped at 80% it gets reduced to 80%. Edit: Do you want me to write up my exact calculations?

and computers which are not capped at 80 would still give 80, I'd imagine.
you're making it to complicated.
Well you can thank the math I'm using, I have not taken any thing above grade 10 yet. Since I'm homeschooling and have Been focusing on other subjects. Edit:Also I'm pretty sure that computers would be capped at 99% since thats the max Accuracy. Not that you would want Computer ACC that high since you have to have at least 1% ACC coming from your weapon.

Kenq
Using your sum of fractions formula then 1x36% shield, and 20x31% shields gives 62% absorb.
However if you build it in the game youll find its exactly 66% absorb. The more iterations you do, the worse that formula result is.
Theres a bit more to the eqn.

K thanks for the info I will refine the formula then repost it after I make sure it works for up to lets say a total of 100 Shields?

Kenquin if you make an adding formula for shields you will make it way to complicate and you will never get the right answer. Try to get the real formula ;)

Hmm - I remember a post about a week ago where you were scoffing at MeGuRen for his 22 shields .. so you didnt have the formula then. Anyhow - as anyone who's resolved it will tell you, its not straight forward - and unless you have some leads from someone, or a good mathematical knowledge your unlikely to solve it.

I don't remember a post about 22 shields but Ill take your word for it, but I do not believe I was Scoffing at him. I just asked him to show me that my formula was wrong instead of just saying your wrong. Thank you for telling me I will need more Advance mathematics to solve it as It will prevent me from fruitlessly spending anymore time on it.
