I've been getting beaten and battered left, right, and center, but I cannot make enough cash to resupply my ships.
is there a more effective way of earning money other than mission contracts and such?

I even tried popping out a couple of Space stations and mining facilities, but they get taken out an hour after I place them there... like when I do a top ten ranked person goes and wipes them out like they are magnetically yanked to them...
I placed them several galaxies apart.

If you're on the main server, then the market I suppose. But on both servers, Secret Asteroid Bases are useful.

Lol, one way that I know, is to get as much items/money from missions as possible, then sell them for a little more than the average, then get the best item you can, sell it for a little more than it's worth, and repeat. But that's probably the worst way of doing it. There's a small guide on the forums somewhere. -Pulls out binoculars-

hey the top guys are not dwags (whats that supposed 2 mean anyways), really doing missions and encrypts are really the best ways to gain money, its a constant form of income and u can start to make a fair bit off them once your commander lvl gets up a little and your shippys get better, if your looking to protect your fleets from attack a few fleets of power shippys are usually the best way and marines help a lot as well.
im sure that if u asked some people in the chat this question that you would get an answer, there are plenty of people willing to help new players.

I've actually have been playing for a bit... although I'm looking to change my alliance due to the fact the leader isn't around, and I'm having to do all the work of running the thing. but I just cannot seem to keep any cash. I keep getting Blasted back to nothing and not having the cash to restock my fleets...even the trainee fighters to try and get a little something. BTW Top Dawg means "Guys and Ladies" in the top ten. Although Hallowed Reaper gave me a touch of advice, so hats off but other than that, I haven't been able to upgrade my MS much, and my space stations and mining facilities get blasted right after I build them, so I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a WTF?! and everyone else around me seems to be growing at an exponential rate.

1) Dont use a ss and mf. Too many people will kill it without massive investment 2)Use the market. Have 11k warhouses. Buy low in the bid section and sell high when you find an offer 3) Missions. Get better ships that dont die... 4)http://cotaspaceo.17.forumer.com/ . Ship designs and guides 5)there are many guides in the forum.

get good ship designs.. missions ships and a powership design.. do encrypts and encounters.. and if you do use the market make sure you have enough warehouse segs.. get a sell for the minimum that chaom sells it for then sell it back to that for more when you see a buy offer.. i like to buy stuff from the market only in quantities of 1mil of 500k

I'm trying to move around to do the mission contracts and encrypts...but my problem has been with a few certain people...they attack me and my alliance mates...16 times in a row.. then after my marines and cash is exhausted they use theirs to steal my ships, or blow them up *L*

What your talking about is normal play there lordfoxfire, you'll have to learn to get/make better ships and blast those people back, they'll stop once they can't beat you. As for making money, no ways are really better/faster than any others, you just have to play around to find what works for you. And yes, you need pships to prevent loss of good ships, 10 fleets that just barely have more power than your strongest ship.
another important tip, no single ship should be more powerful than your base power generates in the beginning. once you get mroe cash/higher in the game, then it's not as bad, but right now, you need to keep it under base power to earn cash effectively.

another way for you to make credits is to turn in intel contracts as you move through the galaxy.
