Thanks men...definitely some info worth considering
2  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / Re: Spilt Fleet on: July 13, 2011, 11:39:20 PM
I like this idea too.

it's a bit unrealistic to have a fleet consist ALL of one type & class of ship. So I don't call em fleets. I call em squadrons. Then I put a "fleet" together, selecting squadrons of each class to make up the fleet. However I do see your point, rather than buying multiple "fleets" of a class, buy a heap of that ship & split up the pot.  1
3  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / STATUS on: July 13, 2011, 11:34:18 PM
Hi all,

Been goofing around in this game for a few days now, enjoying it all so far  1

I note though that I seem to be attacked ONLY when I am offline....I pretty much view that practice as being a "free shot" or a cheap tactic, to hit players while they are offline, to sack them for as much as you can while enjoying immunity from attack. I came online today & found myself hit 3 or 4 times in the hours I was offline!!!!  laugh It's not a unique problem to this game....it happens a lot in other online games & usually ends up driving the victim away from playing. You know how it goes..."not worth it" or "can't get ahead cos I get raided & end up defenceless every day", etc.

So I suggest that the STATUS be disabled. That is, in the RANKINGS screen, you'll note that when a player is online, the status tells everyone they are online. If you disable that, make the decision of when to hit a player a "risk" so that they don't know if they will get beaten off or not, it might break this cycle of attacking only when a player is offline ;) The counters are all fine & well, but at times the raider is a new player looking for easy targets that can't hit back. I was raided today & when I countered, the guy's fleet is so small I couldn't hit back to recoup any of what I lost. That's a bit pointless in my book. If players can raid freely, knowing that their fleet is too small to be countered, what defences does the raided have against such tactics? So I reckon that ALL fleets, no matter how large or small, should be able to be countered  effectively 1

Just for everyone's info, I am NOT a female, as stated in my profile  laugh

I don't know why it classes me as one, I haven't yet figured out how to change it!! 16

Hi again all,

I did find the Guide/Wiki & it explained things in more depth.

I also realise that all the admin on this game is done by volunteer players & can appreciate your enthusiasm for improving the game. Plus the time commitment.

I do think this game has a LOT of potential to be one of the great MMORPGs. It kinda fires the imagination.

I do believe that this game is continually evolving & that much more will be added to expand the help database over time 1

Also to add, when you 'buy' a design, make sure the value is '0' otherwise adding componants will cost you. You only buy the ship once the design is completed, then you use the ressuply ship option.

Yes, thanks for that.
I found the guide & it did explain the process more fully so I worked that out.  1

Well thanks gents  1
Your advices are well taken.
I have a couple of alliances I identify with so will have to send some requests.
I dunno about being a spaceo great though  laugh I'm just another player.
And yes, I think I am playing on Main.

P.S. I DID have the satisfaction of slaughtering a dude that came after me with some good counters  laugh
Made my night!

What are incursions?

Can other players launch incursions? Or are they only NPC events? I've only seen reference to incursions in relation to "alien" incursions, which I understand are "game missions". Is that right?

Thanks.
10  General Talk / SO Help / Newbie Protection? on: July 12, 2011, 01:55:58 PM
Hi all,

Does this game have a period of "newbie protection"? I note that at the top of some of my screens it states that I am hiding in a nebula & am protected.

I've been hit/raided/attacked by 2 players so far. Does that mean that we are ALL vulnerable to attack from the moment we enter the game?

What actions can negate this protection if we take those actions unknowingly?

Thanks.

13  Feedback Terminal / Suggestions / TUTORIAL upgrade on: July 12, 2011, 10:12:43 AM
Hi all,

I dunno if this has been suggested but the tutorial is too vague. There's not enough detailed explanation of how to use all the screens. It's hard for some of us newbies because lots have been playing long enough to have worked it all out & to them it's simple. There doesn't appear to be a HELP function (if there is, please slap me & call me blind). If there IS a guide or something posted elsewhere, it might be a good idea to put that somewhere in the main interface. I'm not whinging, but I feel that for this game to grow & develop a larger client base, you guys need to put a little more into the "self-help" aspect for new players. It also reduces your workload when newbies jump on here & start screaming "HELLLLLPPP!!! I can't find xxxxxx!"  16

Thanks.
14  General Talk / SO Help / Problem seeing modules in DESIGN menu on: July 12, 2011, 09:56:37 AM
Hi all,

I'm having trouble getting the pre-made modules for ARMOUR, WEAPONS, COMPUTER, etc to show up in the window when I go to upgrade a newly designed ship. I don't yet understand how all the attributes & values work for all the modules, so I'd like to design my first ships with existing pre-made modules. But I just can't get those to show up. Am I in the wrong screen? And if so, can someone explain to me just which screen to access for that function?
Thanks.
