46  General Talk / General Discussion / Re: FP=WTF? on: May 21, 2009, 09:21:43 AM
thank you seither 13

your welcome. Its rare today to see an alliance who knows what it is doing, most of them just keep to themselves and are in the alliance only because it was A)once powerful or B) has a cool name. They don't communicate, coordinate, nothing. Down right shame.
47  General Talk / General Discussion / possibly returning to the fight on: May 21, 2009, 09:12:15 AM
So, I'm considering playing again next round, however, I hold no delusions that I can revive G-unit, frankily, the alliance has died (unless all of the elites want to join with whoever their current leader still being leader). and I'm tired of trying to bring it back only to have it collapse. So I'd like to know now, are there any alliance who'd be willing to/like to take me in. I'd need a bit of advice on galaxy tactics (planets and such) as I haven't really played much with those.

I don't view myself as some god like player, I never made top ten back in the golden days (I came close a few times, and was always a top 20 player back then). However, I would at least like an alliance with experienced/vet commanders if possible (The Elites or Nemesis Proclamation could let me in. Sadly, I don't think I meet either of their minimum requirements probably).

So, let me know if anyone wants to take in a rusty vet.

whoa, wait a minute...let me get this straight....working with your alliance in a non-credit giving way is now being considered borderline cheap and cheatish? Has this game really sunk this low?

The Elite's tactic (if it is what skitZz is saying) is 100% legit and old school SO play. An alliance exists to HELP its commanders do better. it's not some social forum. one member get poop, everyone hits back, one member maxes, he reaches out to help the others (which means he can help them find those encounters). It's a 100% legit strategy, and should never be made illegal in any way, or changed. Instead of whining over it, learn how to do it yourself like we had to way back when someone used a new strategy. This is a PvP STRATEGY game people, with team elements to it, get use to it. Frankily, I'm highly impressed at how The Elites have adapted old SO play into the changes of the game. Bravo guys.

and I have an inkling i know who noob buster is, and if it's who i think it is, they're definitely not new.
49  General Talk / General Discussion / Re: Space Odyssey: Shattering Fates available for purchase on: May 21, 2009, 08:44:51 AM
yes, it must be the same size, so no worries there. and dear god that is beautiful. I'll upload the file now and send it to the printer to see if it prints right, if not, i'll let you know what needs fixing Qualopec.

and what word was misspelled lammalord? I can't seem to find it.

Hey if you want I could redo the book cover for you so the planets aren't so stretched out and make the text more visible.

Seriously!!?!?! that'd be amazingly awesome!!!!!!!!
51  General Talk / General Discussion / Re: Space Odyssey: Shattering Fates available for purchase on: May 20, 2009, 09:52:27 PM
Ah well, money is money eh? I wish you good luck with this. Would hate for you to have wasted your time. wounded1

I'm not in it for the money really, I love writing and have always wanted to say I was a published author. now I am. Even if I only sell a single book, I'm happy. So no time wasted for me. Thanks for the luck though, and let me know what your brother says.
52  General Talk / General Discussion / Re: Space Odyssey: Shattering Fates available for purchase on: May 20, 2009, 09:43:29 PM
its 376 pages, but it has double spacing (I had requests for it, as it makes it easier on the eyes to read.) the cover prints darker than the image sadly, so the cover text is hard to read at times and doesn't jump out like it should. It's in the process of being fixed, so really, just makes the 1st run more valuable.

Try making the text on the covers red perhaps?

red doesn't fit the scheme of the book right. I've got a friend who's savvy in computer image designing, he's going to help me with the text, so no worries.

Hope it works out. Looks good though. And you get 90% of the profit from this?

no, i wish, lol. I get somewhere between 40%-50%, which is more than your average starting author gets off their books with a publisher.

Ok, I'll look into it. Got a picture of what the book looks like?

I have the full cover image, yes. The site should have a front cover picture up soon (they said it takes about 5 days or so for it to appear). Book's dimensions are 8"x5.25"x<1"

I apologize now for the epic size of the thing, photobucket refuses to make it smaller when i post the link >_<

Willing to ship the books out? My brother owns a book store, he might be interested.

Yes, if he is interested, let me know via PM and I can get him a code that'll cut the costs of the books down by 30%. So he can order however many he wants from the site using the code, have them shipped to him, and then keep whatever profits he makes. Keeps the transaction process simple and clean, as I have no other way to accept money for orders right now.

ya...I think I can safely say my book ignores scientific accuracy completely, lol. But thanks.

issues with my pros? uh, huh? not sure i'm understanding you there, lol. But thanks I think.

I'll post sales at the end of this month, and then once a month, though honestly, unless people spread the word, I dooubt sales will change much after the first 2-4 weeks.
Sorry writing prose i type to fast... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prose

Hehe, an insult to poor seither
No his prose is decent for a PoD book but if he really wants to grab more people in to his writing it needs some improvement.

all writers can improve, lol. I'm working with 1 editor who is not a professional and myself, I get a lot of slack I think, as all prose editing comes down to me, lol. Usually its the editor who makes the book's prose a lot better. I also didn't entirely rewrite the stories, so they're still partially in their original form of writing from during my highschool time. However, I do thank you for your input, as all useful criticism is accepted. At least you're not going, it could be better.

And some better advertising. Go on other forums, post links and what not in the sigs  12

I'm one person, who's time is taken up by a girlfriend, a job, and trying to write more. There's only so much advertising I can do on my own, lol.

I'll help any way possible.

Thanks. Just, spread the word as much as possible, here, there, wherever. I have an author site http://www.dewarbooks.com/, and the site to buy the book is https://www.createspace.com/3370474. You can link them if you want to.

If you want you can make up banners/signature images, whatever.

I'm not picky about how i get help, as long as it comes, I'm happy. Atm my "advertising campagin" is telling the 200ish people i know on facebook about the book and tell them to buy it and spread the word....and posting here.

59  Space Odyssey Caffe / Whatever / Re: R.I.P. 3DRealms on: May 20, 2009, 07:45:33 PM
Whatever... Don't judge me!

Anyways, if you want to support Duke, I suggest the Duke Nukem Trilogy, starting with soon-to-be-released Duke Nukem: Critical Mass.

The Duke Nukem Trilogy is a slew of new 3D Duke Nukem games going to be released episodically for the PSP and the Nintendo DS. They say that they are going to "[take] full advantage of each platforms strengths," and that it will feature "3D Characters with Detailed Textures," "Multi-Player Action," and "Total Ass-Kicking Weapons." It's being developed by Frontline Studios, rather than 3D Realms, so you don't have to worry about that.

Jon St. John returns as the voice of Duke Nukem, which makes this game worth more than its weight in gold.

I already planned on getting them, lmao.

however, with this whole set coming out and all, i can't help but feel if maybe this isn't a typical 3DR stunt, they've pulled similar before....
