Interesting idea, it would create an all or nothing situation for the top 10, but...
I'd say many of the people that get a top 10 position use the rewards to get or renew a gold account (me for example) without that, many would not have gold, therefore would not have a chance in a rabbits brothel of getting anywhere. Some could quit as a result of that.
To get the no.1 spot generally involves donating (and I include using affiliate winnings too). This usually means the ones with the cash generally win, and by having just 1 prize, that person would have a massive advantage each round thereafter.
Unfortunately every solution has it's resulting dissadvantage....
Take the situation that borg is currently in.... He has a massive lead and can wipe anyone he want through attacking stuctures (as I've recently found out
). A solution would be to link total mothership power into whether he can attack lower lvl players planets or not, but then that would decrease PVP and push people like Borg away from the game again. No easy solution!
I haven't a problem with what Borg did to me, that's just what happens within the current SpaceO set up, as always I'll take it on the chin and carry on.
