Experience bonus going to Hitpoints

i recently heard of a ship used for boarding originally with 45 bil hp and 750 mil atk. It has +33% experince, but the +33% goes to its hp and defense although it has no defense. it now has 51 b hp. when does this happen? is it something with the design or is it because of how the ship was used (to board)?

any feedback would be great because i have never seen this before.

This is the last known update for crew lvl.

Sometimes it doesnt give the bonus right, like some 0 hp ships get a bonus to HP and not to the attack (like powerships and kamikazi's)

- Crew experience can affect fleets in two ways, depending on attack / hitpoints ratio of the fleet it will be categorized as an assault vessel or board vessel, e.g. a board vessel is a fleet that has 1 attack to 10 hitpoints, more than that and it's an assault vessel
