This is one of my suggestions for Space Odyssey hope you like it.

Battle Damage

BAM CRASH A huge Laser just blasted through your hull, WHOOSH, BZZZZZZ a missile just exploded near you rear engines.
After the battle, huge gunks of molten metal float through space, you survived, albeit with half your ships in zero gravity. Even
if you could get it back it's not going to fit as well after all it's now not part of the original construction. And yes your mothership
Does have repair droids, you would have to have access to huge orbital construction facilities for these titanic cruisers.

MY thinking is a ship that's just got a huge hole blasted in one side and out the other isn't going to fit together just right is it,
maybe ships should lose 0.01 of damage done to them per battle permanently. Or at least until you get to a friendly orbital repair yard.
Alliances could build them at their alliances bases (more on that later) and planet owners could build them at their planets. It would cost to
repair it say 1% of ship cost and permanent damage should only apply to ships with 60606060 space or above. Also at shipyards you could add
extra armor plating at cost of warp travel ie. +1 turn every Galactic Distance Unit you move.

I dont really like the idea of perminent damage. It would be annoying doing missions to find your lead ship is almost dead and having to travel back to your alliance base. And i dont think the weight of armour would affect the speed,as your weightless in space  3

Agree on the issue of permanent damage, however in space you may be weightless but your ships do have both mass and inertia, you need fuel to overcome both conditions and heavier ships need both more fuel and also greater acceleration time to travel anywhere.

actually, not true

the only way that fuel accelerates an object in space is because exhaust gases are released. this creates an action-reaction pair, with the shuttle being the reaction.

so basically, you could get ANYWHERE you want to with a fraction of a seconds worth of a burn. the only other factors are the gravity from other planets. this gravity is the only thing that gives a shuttle weight, not to be confused with mass. in empty space, all shuttles would have the same weight...0
but bigger ones have more mass of course.

so no, heavier ships dont need more fuel, in fact, they would need LESS fuel because their greater mass would overcome the gravitational pull of a planet/star/whatever mroe easily.

sure you were. and unless the amount of grinding in this game drops to -100, permanent health is a BAD idea. Plus it would mean completely redoing the ship designing and several other areas of the game...lot of work for such a small update.
