i think this was brought up a few times till now but here i go this game should have races with bonuses to attack,to defence,to type of ships (small weight, big weight) and to implement ship chassey (fighter, frigate, etc) also according to the weight. missions should have more reward types --- hmm like types of minerals also. id like also researches that take time to open the path to new chassey bigger weapons etc( the experience system on the commander its a great way to substitute researches also and the mining system maybe have em both?). some special ships that require minerals to make? and other ideeas like these ones but i know its nearly impossible. but who knows? sir emi does PS the best turn based space strategy game i ve ever played thank you spaceo team

why your welcome
as for thouse ideas some will never work, the ship ideas people make wepons as big as they want, you can create any wepon or ship you want so you cant really have the "upgrades" or anything beacsue there isnt really anything that you cant already make
and the races would make it to complicated cause hay if you kept up with mission contracts and the spaceodyssey story in the frount its only humans, and that there was a galtic war witch desoyed every planet leaving motherships to flock around stars fighting for recouses
alianes still dont exist except for in mission contracts, but a bit better of a differntion to that would be sort of like diffent people or something like instead of aliane, human thing it would be more like all humans sort of like "Dark Raiders" "Faith" or something, more of a religous belief among the humans that could give bonos, but still it sceemes to complicated
ahh sorry for my spelling

No, we've been over this, the races idea WOULD work, because it never says anywhere in the story that it was only the humans who survived. It would work.

I think that sounds like a decent enough idea though it would be hard as all the existing players would have to choose a race, which sounds kinda complicated.........
|
If practice makes perfect, but nobodies perfect, why practice? Someone look at my story its the galactic history pleeez everyones loosing interest....

i dont think there is a need for a race...its not like youre gonna regenerate your HP more faster , or have more mana , or other special abilities like breath under water..

True, but each race could have a benifit, like cheaper resupply, more attack, more defence, more hp, stuff like that. It would just add a little twist to the game, make it more interesting.

well we could implement something like an ascending race (reach lvl 10 at commander for example and you choose an ascendant)i like the ideea for the races to be some more evolved humans,or cyborgs,or robots completely.what do ya guys think?

Yes, we're trying to be original, not rip offs of every other game out there.

The thing is, those ideas only work for hack and slash rpgs. This is a space mmoRPG, so you have to compare it to all RPGs, regardless of their type.
Your original ideas, about the races, as brough up several times, would work here, but that would be something you choose at the beginning and is set from then on out.

It wouldn't work because A)it's incredibly complicated and B) you don't have use for a ton of different abilities, only a minor boost for some.
Oh and I solved the problem about already existing players not getting a bonus for the races thing. Have it reset each ound, and add it in at the end of this one, so that next round, everyone starts off with the choice and it's fair.

Though I agree that minerals should be implemented in other aspects of the game besides just mining (see Monkey's post), I don't think we need mineral missions. Why? With a mineral mission, who would mine? You get exp (a small amount, but some nonetheless) AND minerals. Also, how would the amount of minerals gained be calculated? With segments, it's easy. 10 for each 1%. With credits and workers, also easy. But minerals? Gaining them now takes turns and money. How do we calculate how much the turns are worth? Some of these objections are minor; there can be ideas to counteract them. However, mineral missions will probably be fairly worthless for either new players or old players, depending on how many minerals are given (not like they'd actually be worth much to new players...1% extra of anything is not worth as much as extra money/segments for a while).
The races would be an interesting new option. It would, most likely, be put in next round (Monkey beat me to saying this, though). The nice thing is, there probably ARE several races in the galaxy. And these races probably would be better at certain things (human race would probably be the best for marines, or something). AND, it wouldn't make the game too confusing (just one option, and *poof* you're done worrying about your race), so new players won't get too confused (I have seen a bunch of confusions arise due to the galaxy map, especially from n00bs).
The minerals idea, there could be a way for this to do something new... Right now, there is no way to increase the damage you do to the 2nd target, or do damage to the 3rd+ targets. But the mineral add-ons could allow the ship to do an amount (# or percent? I'm not sure) of damage to these targets.
