I hate to bring this up in such a way, especially like this, but something interesting caught me eye today...

a locked update

I believe I see 3 very important things here:
1: it was locked due to ressing.  ok.  but the long absense of posts was (and I counted) 62 days, no where near 120 days old.
I tried to confirm the age that something is considered dead, but that leads me to point 2.

2: nowhere in ToS does it talk about the forum.  in fact, I tried to dig around for a few minutes and couldn't find ANY mention as to just how long it is before something is dead.

3: updates should be partially excused from this rule... or at least be lenient. an update can sometimes need that long to truly test it out, especially here where some problems don't occur until later in the game.  the only exception to this, is when the update is no longer being applied.  the only other option available at that point... is being forced to post in not only a new thread, but in an entirely different portion of the forum.  not everyone has time to wade through all general threads, just to see if someone is talking about an old update that should be edited.

now... should we unlock it? probably not, just let it be...  just it seems weird that it was locked in the first place, didn't even reach the dead thread time frame, and the fact there isn't even a forum ToS in the forum...  or at least if it is it's a lot harder to find then the game ToS, that's for sure.

I agree with you also and i would like to see some clear cut rules and i would like to see the mod's try to be more diplomatic but firm when they have to be. As if noone has noticed but these forums arent near as active as they used to be.

You have obviously not been on much, the forum is MUCH mroe active than 2-3 months ago, just because we are losing PLAYERS doesn't mean we are losing forum members, the longer a person plays, more likely it is that they will join the forum. We've been more active, trust me, I've seen ALL the posts, there's more now than ever, hence why we keep ADDING mods to police forum, not subtracting.

i would like to see some clear cut rules.

I'll ask snipedragon to write some clear cut rules, but 99% of them ARE common sense to be honest, if a topic is kinda old, just leave it be. We'd rather you just start a new thread, because people get confused when a topic they see is old, especially in updates. People might think emi added another update because it's old and they forgot about it. But general ruling is 2 weeks to a month on ressing, so if it's that old, let it be.

i would like to see the mod's try to be more diplomatic but firm when they have to be.

Are you able to negotiate with Police Officers when they arrest you or give you a ticket? No. We are MORE than lenant with people. We almost always give multiple warnings before temporarily banning someone, where as many other forums just 1 week ban you for breaking ANY rules. We only ban someone the first time when they did something really bad or keep disrespecting us for warning them about breaking rules. We're plenty fair, or snipe would strip us of our powers.

I was well into the dead thread timeframe, over a month over iirc, and no forum ToS because almost all the rules are common sense rules. As i said, i'll ask snipe to write up clear cut rules for you guys, no promises though. and no, updates should be the MOST strict area of all, as old threads constantly jumping to the top will hide new updates, thus no one knows about it, and make peole who don't read dates get confused thinking emi readded something or other but finding out it's an old update, causing them to stop reading the update area and not learn of new updates.

I have started working on a set list of Forum Rules.  The moderators will be editing these as a collective until we feel they are fair to both the community, and the moderators.  Once they are posted they WILL be followed.
