if u want a fair game for evry1, ull have to be very careful with ingame bonuses..
its hard enough (i think, not sure) to reach top 10 without gold account.. let alone if they all have xtra turns / credits whatever from last round

although real cash prizes usually work well to attract new players, it wont help to keep them unless they actually have a chance to win them..

the consequences of accepting this line of reasoning u wont like:
-lower cash reward (a lot)
-tweak xchange rate for $
-lower cost and rewards for gold account (i.e. $5)
-larger reward base:
i.e. top 50 instead of top 10:

50-41 = $0.5
40-31 = $1
30-21 = $1.5
20-11 = $2
10-6  = $4
      5 = $6
      4 = $7
      3 = $8
      2 = $10
      1 = $15
------------
total: $116

the broken:
""the rewards have been working fine for a long time now and half a dollar would be 25p, not worth it really""

me:
25p is close to nothing.. agreed.. atm u get nothing at all for those spots.. thats even less! lol
the underlying thought is that ppl will be able to save up some creds without having to be top 10.. this will help to counter the runaway effect cause ppl will be saving credits where top ranking players r spending them so that after a few rounds,  a top 50 player will also have a shot at top 10""

waylain16:
""mgc brings a good point up""

I think it is a good idea, because for one some people dont try that hard to place because they know they cant compete with the top ten players
On the other hand if the rewards for top ten are decreased i think about half the top 20-30 would quit trying all that hard too
So when you really think about it, its good for some and bad for some

theres loads of games where ppl play hard solely for the honor of winning..
besides.. it should be the game and not the cash prize (relatively small as is for the amount of work u put in btw) that keeps ppl hooked.. if thats not the case, theres work to be done

it would to a degree be unfair to those that know how it used to be, but picture it like this:
cash prizes r a tool to get (and keep) players.. a problem with this tool is balancing it so it can do the job it was designed for..
credits have a huge impact on the game (currently) so if u give a lot to a few, this will create a small new class (haves) very very fast.
so theres 2 factors.. how much to give and how many to give it to:
what is a good rank for a noob to obtain? (it shouldnt come to easy, he does have to work for it)..
how many credits can be countered by playing better? the diffrence between say #5 and #1 shouldnt be over that amount to keep the end result open..

this is still far from a totally equal reset, but it should give the newbs some room for growth and the pro's a more competitive game..

personally i think the proposed reward structure is a good idea. or maybe instead of cash for lower rankings they just get turns or segs or something.

on another note,

how bout something cool for Wars and PVE too? like a random give away every week (doesn't have to be cash... just something to keep it interesting... like CP or maybe a grand prize of a planet)

What if there was a top ten for gold account, then a top ten for people who dont have a gold account? Then maybe, for the people for whom this is their 1st round, a top ten?

Some say the world will end in fire,
some say in ice,
but from what ive tasted of desire,
i hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
i think i know enough of hate,
to say that for destruction of ice
is also great,
and will suffice.

sounds complicated..

i like it!

do u have a proposal for the devision of credits?
1 thing though.. in order for it to keep more ppl interested, it might have to be more then 30 ppl (though already a huge improvement) that win a prize..
