i think its with all allainces..

notice that when you post a new msg instead of adding a messege at the bottem.. it just removes the last post..

so i had 400 messegs in my allaince.. someone posted and the number stayed at 400 yet the first allaince messege (the one with my guides on it) went off the screen.. it gets annoying that i always have to tell my new members they may have to log in and out several times before actally seeing the guide..

i thought it was for just one allaince, but then i switched to another allaince and its doing the same thing...

The number of messages is chaced so it doesn't have to count all the messages each time you view the messages.
It only matters if you want to see the first (oldest) alliance message from the 400 messages after someone posted...

well okay its to save space.. so ill have to get used to telling people to log out to see the first post :p
